terraNOVA Collective kicks off the first annual GROUNDWORKS New Play Series at The New Ohio Theatre featuring the new plays generated by the 2012 Groundbreakers Playwrights Group and terraNOVA's other new play development projects. GROUNDWORKS is terraNOVA's new initiative to not only showcase its new play development projects but to expose the work to artistic leaders and other industry professionals in hopes of finding world premiere productions for the plays.

The Broadway production of Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN opens officially tonight at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Massacre (Sing to Your Children), by Obie Award-winning playwright Jose Rivera, directed by Brian Mertes. Performances will begin Wednesday, April 4th at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets). The official opening night is set for Thursday, April 12th. The production is scheduled to run through May 12th.

Capital Stage continues its successful first season in midtown with a Sam Shepard revival. True West will mark the second Shepard play the company has presented following a 2009 staging of Fool For Love. Performances for True West will run March 21 - April 22, 2012 and will feature company co-founder Jonathan Rhys Williams (Or, Hunter Gatherers, Fool For Love) and actor Cole Alexander Smith (reasons to be pretty, First Person Shooter) as battling brothers Lee and Austin.

La MaMa has announced that they will present the American premiere of London's Gate Theatre's production of THE KREUTZER SONATA March 8-25.

Alfred R. Kahn, in association with Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director), will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Out of Iceland by Drew Larimore, directed by Josh Hecht. Off-Broadway's The New Group honors David Rabe and Nancy Manocherian, founding Artistic Director of the cell theater in Chelsea, at the company's 2012 Gala, hosted by Janeane Garofalo & Morgan Spector. Rabe and Manocherian are recipients of the sixth annual Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater. Founded in 2005, this award recognizes individuals who show outstanding commitment to the theatrical community. Past recipients include Wallace Shawn, Fred Wistow, Robyn Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Ruth and Stephen Hendel, Wendy Ettinger and Derek McLane.

Following the success of the acclaimed premiere of Taylor Mac's THE WALK ACROSS AMERICAN FOR MOTHER EARTH last season, La MaMa in association with the Obie Award-winning theatre company The Talking Band will present Sidney Goldfarb's play HOT LUNCH APOSTLES at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.), with preview performances starting Thursday, March 1 prior to an official press opening set for Thursday, March 8.

The New Group will present the world premiere of An Early History of Fire, a new play by Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe. Directed by Jo Bonney, this production features Deema Aitken, Gordon Clapp, Erin Darke, Jonny Orsini, Devin Ratray, Dennis Staroselsky, Theo Stockman and Claire van der Boom. VH1's Emmy award-winning ROCK DOCS franchise will premiere two new documentaries during the SXSW Film Festival. Magnolia Pictures' 'Marley,' the first film to tell the definitive life story of revolutionary music icon Bob Marley, will be making its North American premiere at SXSW on March 11th at 5:30PM CT. In addition, 'UPRISING: Hip Hop and The L.A. Riots,' narrated and executive produced by rapper Snoop Dogg, is set to make its world premiere at SXSW on March 14th at 10PM CT.
