Barnard/Columbia Dances, now in its tenth season, continues to work with New York Live Arts to connect students to the world of professional dance by commissioning premieres from contemporary artists. This year, Barnard and Columbia dancers will perform original works by four women choreographers-Patricia Hoffbauer, Sam Kim, Pam Tanowitz and Colleen Thomas-in celebration of Barnard's 125th anniversary as a leader in women's education
Allegiance - A New American Musical has been eyeing a Broadway run since it premiered at San Diego's Old Globe last fall. Since then, a New York City reading was held, led by Lea Salonga, George Takei and Telly Leung, all of whom starred in the San Diego production, as well as in a recent backers screening in Austin. Takei just announced that the cast will be taking part in a 'Talks at Google' event which will be broadcast live tomorrow. He writes:

This year's Creative Arts telecast partner is FXM; a two-hour edited version of the ceremony will air Sunday, August 24 at 8:00 PM ET/PT with an encore at 10:00 PM ET/PT on FXM. The program will be streamed in its entirety as part of the Backstage LIVE! show on Emmys.com at 12:00 PM PT/3:00 PM ET on Monday, August 25.
The Broadway-aimed musical Allegiance, currently starring George Takei, Lea Salonga, and Telly Leung, has created a Priority Access Pass to give more theatregoers a chance to see the production. The show premiered at San Diego's The Old Globe in September 2012 and quickly sold out, leaving many fans without a chance to see the show at all. A fan who purchases a Priority Access Pass for $5.00 is guaranteed a reserved and numbered spot on a list of theatregoers who get first shot at purchasing tickets when they go on sale - ahead of the general public.
