Actor George Takei stopped by CBS SUNDAY MORNING to talk about his life before his STAR TREK stardom, which began in an Arkansas internment camp during WWII, his latest project -- the Broadway-bound musical ALLEGIANCE with Lea Salonga, Telly Leung and more, and his recent Internet fame and gay rights activism. Watch the interview below!

Allegiance - A New American Musical premiered at San Diego's Old Globe last fall and held a pre-Broadway, New York City reading on May 20, 2013. The event was led by Salonga, Takei and Leung, all of whom starred in the San Diego production. ALLEGIANCE is reportedly aiming for Broadway, possibly in the spring of 2014.

Allegiance features music and lyrics by Jay Kuo, book by Marc Acito, Kuo and Lorenzo Thione, direction by Stafford Arima, choreography by Andrew Palermo and music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Lynne Shankel.

Sixty years after the attack on Pearl Harbor, a chance meeting forces WWII veteran Sam Kimura to remember his family's relocation from their California farm to the Heart Mountain internment camp. As they struggle to adjust to their new home, Young Sam and his sister Kei find themselves torn between loyalty to their family and Allegiance to their country. With its moving score, Allegiance - A New American Musical takes audiences on a journey into our nation's history through the eyes of one American family.
