Piven Theatre Workshop closes its 2009-10 season with the Chicago premiere of Late: A Cowboy Song, written by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Jessica Thebus and featuring Polly Noonan. The production will run July 24 - August 29, 2010 at Piven Theatre Workshop, 927 Noyes Street. Press opening is Monday, July 26, 2010 at 7:30PM.
On March 22, 2010, The New School for Drama and Samuel French held a staged reading event honoring 2008 graduate Janine Nabers, who received the 2010 Samuel French/New School for Drama Award for Excellence in Play writing. Special guests Laila Robins Tippett, Laura Gourdine, Patrick Williams, Michael Chernus, and Stefanie Frane read excerpts of Nabers' play Annie Bosh is Missing.

The Sundance Institute has chosen 8 playwrights to take part in their annual Sundance Institute Playwrights Retreat, Variety is reporting. The retreat began Monday, February 1st, and the residency will last through February 19th. The residency will take place in Ucross, Wyoming.
