As part of a careful, multi-year plan to balance and stabilize company finances as rapidly and prudently as possible, the Dallas Opera is today announcing the cancellation of one of the scheduled productions in our upcoming "Tragic Obsessions" Season: Katya Kabanova.

The Dallas Opera is proud to announce the eighteen artists from around the world who are vying for the prestigious "Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year" Award to be announced at the annual Dallas Opera Board and Trustee Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, May 19th at 6:30 PM in the Crescent Ballroom of the Rosewood Crescent Hotel, 400 Crescent Court in Uptown Dallas.

New Orleans Opera General and Artistic Director, Robert Lyall says of the company's 2010-2011 season. 'We are offering a season that includes something for long-time opera lovers and newcomers alike.' 'Each of the different musical and theatrical styles of these works, which range from the immensely popular musical treasures of an important historical landmark like PORGY AND BESS to the exquisite and exotic musical delights of Bizet's less-frequently performed PEARL FISHERS, has a special appeal.
