Several newcomers are actors with extensive stage backgrounds. The series will center on two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England. Production on the 10-episode season is underway in Scotland.

Theatre Royal Bath Productions and English Touring Theatre today announce full casting for the UK premiere of Testmatch, a fast-paced, study of sport, gender politics and the legacy of colonialism, by emerging playwright Kate Attwell which runs at Bath's Ustinov Studio from 2 April to 9 May 2020. Testmatch is directed by Nicole Charles (Emilia, The Merry Wives of Windsor) with an all-female cast starring Komal Amin, Subika Anwar-Khan, Bessie Carter, Sally Messham, Lotte Rice and Tripti Tripuraneni. 'Tipping The Velvet' brings back the collaboration between playwright Laura Wade and director Lyndsey Turner. Last seen with the successful 'Posh', this is clearly a duo to be reckoned with and their adaptation of Sarah Waters' popular novel is playfully re-imagined with a masterful design.
Kirsty Besterman, David Cardy, Amanda Hadingue, Adelle Leonce and Andy Rush will join the previously announced Sally Messham and Laura Rogers in Laura Wade's new adaptation of Sarah Waters' bestselling novel, Tipping the Velvet, directed by Lyndsey Turner. They will be supported by a young ensemble. Tipping the Velvet will open at the Lyric Hammersmith on 28 September 2015, with previews from 18 September.
