LAByrinth Theater Company (Artistic Director John Ortiz) recently announced that they will present the World Premiere of Devil of Choice by LAB Member Maggie Bofill (Winners, Drawn and Quartered). They are thrilled for performances to begin Wednesday, May 23, and will run through Saturday, June 9, 2018, at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street, New York, NY 10014). An official opening night has been set for Monday, May 28, 2018. Tickets are available for $20 each and can be purchased online at www.labtheater.org/shows-and-events

DIRTY BOMB, one of the great but largely untold stories from WWII, will compete at the 2018 Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival and will be screened on May 15th. at the American Pavilion, at a time TBD. Since 1989, The American Pavilion has offered opportunities in Cannes for emerging filmmakers to have their work seen by Cannes Festival and Film Market Attendees.

The 16th Annual Garden State Film Festival is thrilled to welcome award-winning veteran actor Christopher Lloyd to their spectacular four-day 16th Anniversary event in Asbury Park this year from March 22-25th! Mr. Lloyd will be in on hand the entire weekend to support the East Coast debut of his new feature film 'Making A Killing,' a twisted modern-day crime mystery, based on a true story. The film is scheduled to screen on Saturday March 24th from 8:00-10:00 p.m. at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove, after which Mr. Lloyd will be presented with GSFF's 'Beacon Award.'

Starring Michael Jai White, Mike Starr, Jude Moran, Aida Turturro, New Jersey's Jack Forcinito with Sally Kirkland and Christopher Lloyd, this twisted modern-day crime mystery BASED ON A TRUE STORY, tells the story of three morticians who get caught in a web of greed and deceit, involving buried treasure and a tangled love affair. The backstory to this film is as compelling as the film itself. Members of the 'Pro99' movement of Actors' Equity Association have issued an open letter to AEA's newly elected president, Kate Shindle, in response to her victory and to her inaugural address as president of the national union for actors and stage managers. The open letter is signed by over 400 Equity members (listed below), including such notable names as Ed Asner, Francis Fisher, Sally Kirkland and Alfred Molina. The 'Pro99' movement formed in late 2014 in opposition to AEA's rollout of a new plan that will effectively force 'intimate theaters' in Los Angeles to pay Equity actors minimum wage, go 'non-union' or even close - despite an overwhelming vote against the plan by 66% of the Los Angeles membership on an advisory referendum. 'Pro99' members around the nation, who take their name from the current AEA '99 Seat Plan' that allows members to volunteer in smaller venues, oppose AEA's new promulgated plan. They are requesting that Equity leadership put a moratorium on the plan until local members' voices can be heard, and that the union work with its members to develop an alternative plan that will more realistically address the needs of the Los Angeles theater community.

Father and son forgiveness is at the heart of a hilarious, heart-wrenching and triumphant solo play by writer/performer Mitch Hara. Directed by Terri Hanauer, Mutant Olive opens Jan. 22 at the Lounge Theatre, where it will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 28.

Skip E. Lowe, the comic, raconteur and perennial TV host whose weekly public access cable program has been airing in Los Angeles, New York and other major markets for more than 35 years--the longest in television history--and is generally credited as the inspiration for the Martin Short character “Jiminy Glick,” died in his home at Kingsley Manor Apartments in Hollywood on Monday, Sept. 22. He was 85 and had been suffering from emphysema and other respiratory ailments, though he never smoked, but blamed years of working as a comic in smoke-infested nightclubs. Lowe had conducted more than 6,000 interviews, often two a week, with guests that included Orson Welles and Bette Davis.
