The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop announces its Spring Smoker, a semi-annual showcase for new songs from Workshop writers. The event will be held in the 30th Floor Media Room of BMI's New York office at 7 World Trade Center/250 Greenwich Street on Thursday, April 26, at 5:30PM and is open to members of the entertainment industry as well as Workshop members. UK's Headlong Theatre to Produce AMERICAN PSYCHO in 2013?

According to UK theater company Headlong's 2012-2013 season announcement, the group will be producing playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Grammy and Tony-winning songwriter Duncan Sheik's musical American Psycho, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Directed by Rupert Goold, the show will be a co-production with Act 4 Entertainment and The Collective. No word yet on where the production will be produced.

On Saturday, March 31st, 32 metro area high schools acts continued their journey toward college scholarships, special awards, prizes and performance opportunities throughout the city by competing in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition Semi-finals. Performing arts professionals judged the groups and narrowed the acts to 11 who will move on to the finals on Friday, April 27th at 8pm at The Fabulous Fox Theatre (list of acts attached and can be found on our website). The final competition is a Broadway style show and is FREE and open to the public. Tickets are required and available now at no charge at The Fox box office and through Metrotix.

The Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo, one of Japan's foremost chamber orchestras, will make its New York debut on Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 pm at Alice Tully Hall. Conductor Thierry Fischer will lead the orchestra in popular works by Mozart and Beethoven, including Mozart's Overture from Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 with pianist Yu Kosuge, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major "Eroica."
