The BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop announces its Spring Smoker, a semi-annual showcase for new songs from Workshop writers. The event will be held in the 30th Floor Media Room of BMI's New York office at 7 World Trade Center/250 Greenwich Street on Thursday, April 26, at 5:30PM and is open to members of the entertainment industry as well as Workshop members. As the 2012 presidential election season begins, Symphony Space, host of the popular comedy and literary events Uptown Showdown and Selected Shorts, welcomes back its popular political cabaret, The Thalia Follies, for its seventh season with its newest production, Race for the White House.

According to UK theater company Headlong's 2012-2013 season announcement, the group will be producing playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Grammy and Tony-winning songwriter Duncan Sheik's musical American Psycho, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Directed by Rupert Goold, the show will be a co-production with Act 4 Entertainment and The Collective. No word yet on where the production will be produced.

On Saturday, March 31st, 32 metro area high schools acts continued their journey toward college scholarships, special awards, prizes and performance opportunities throughout the city by competing in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase Competition Semi-finals. The Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo, one of Japan's foremost chamber orchestras, will make its New York debut on Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 pm at Alice Tully Hall.
