Prospect Theater Company will present the New York premiere of Jasper in Deadland, a new musical with book by Hunter Foster and Ryan Scott Oliver, and music and lyrics by Oliver, and starring Matt Doyle. Performances are March 16 through April 13 at the West End Theatre in the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew. A press opening is scheduled for March 26 at 7:30pm. This free seminar is opening a limited number of seats to the public and reservations are required.

GAY HAIKU, the new play written and directed by Sam Perwin - based on the celebrated book of poetry of Joel Derfner - will debut at Dixon Place on Thursday, February 6 at 7:30 PM. The cast includes Jennifer Lauren Brown, Nic Cory, Trey Gerrald, Josh Hemphill, Patrick McAndrew, Eric Ulloa, and John-Michael Zeurlein. GAY HAIKU was a semi-finalist in the Strawberry One-Act Festival and was subsequently selected as part of the festival's Encores Series. This presentation at Dixon Place marks the premiere of the full-length version. The show is produced by Thomas Dolan.

A total of 46 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus in East Haddam, CT this month to participate in the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing nearly 30 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Contestants in LA's Next Great Stage Star competition had an exciting second week on Sunday, January 12th. The theme for this round was Breaking New Ground - A Little New Music, and featured songs from some of today's most up and coming musical theatre writers.
