Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival has announced the lineup for its popular new works series, HVSF2.

A private industry reading of Whorl Inside A Loop by Dick Scanlan and Sherie Rene Scott will be held on April 29, it was announced today. MAD MEN's Emmy-nominated star Christina Hendricks will lead the reading, which is being presented in advance of an anticipated Broadway run, according to producers.

The Pearl Theatre Company is pleased to present the New York premiere of Stupid Fu**ing Bird, Aaron Posner's award-winning wry riff on Anton Chekhov's masterpiece The Seagull. Directed by Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Davis McCallum, the production, running through May 8, scoops up Chekhov's tale of unrequited love, missed opportunities, and misplaced dreams and sets it down squarely in the bustle of 21st century life. With its rebellious title evoking Constantine's subversive play-within-a-play from the original, it captures the heartbreaking humor of the tale while playing as brilliantly with dramatic form as Chekhov himself once did.

'Dead Dog Park' is on stage at 59E59 now through Sunday, March 6th. This is one to see, an excellent, pointed play that deals with racial tensions as a white officer is accused of pushing an African-American youth out of a four-story window.

Tempests, tricks, and twin antics are told surprisingly well in an early 20th century Christmas party setting In Esperance Theatre Company's inaugural production of Twelfth Night, solidifying the title's setting on the twelfth day of Christmas.

Any visit to the Baldwin Theatre in Royal Oak is a treat, but the fantastic production now on stage, MARY POPPINS will blow you away. This show is super! [cali, etc.] Stagecrafters have made this show a delight from the very moment you walk into the room; here you will see a Mary Poppins Christmas tree, with ornaments of kites, crowned by a signature nanny hat. Of course, just walking into the theatre gives a sense of majesty with that beautiful English Wedgwood blue and gilded gold all around. The show is a holiday treat; it has great tunes, great costumes and sets, a wonderful plot, and lots of magic.

According to Out, Dick Scanlan and Sheri Rene Scott's play, Whorl Inside a Loop, which played earlier this fall at Second Stage Theater, is coming to Broadway. Michael Musto writes, 'I ran into three-time Tony nominee Sherie Rene Scott, who told me that Whorl Inside a Loop, the Off-Broadway play she recently cowrote and starred in, is moving to Broadway.' Scott told him:  'We were working it out today. It's moving with a star.'
