St. Louis Actors' Studio's LaBUTE THEATRE FESTIVAL to Receive NY Premiere at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters will welcome the St. Louis Actors' Studio?with the NYC premiere of their acclaimed LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL, an evening of one-act plays featuring new plays by Neil LaBute, Lexi Wolfe, Peter Grandbois & Nancy Bell, G.D. Kimble, JJ Strong, and John Doble. Directed by Milton Zoth and John Pierson, the LaBUTE NEW THEATER FESTIVAL begins performances on Wednesday, January 13 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 7.  Press opening is Sunday, January 17 at 7:30 PM.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday at 8:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM & 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM & 7:30 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Tickets are $30 ($21 for 59E59 Members). As American workers continue to be impacted by the dynamics of the global marketplace and downward pressure on their wages, Theater for the New City and its Executive Director Crystal Field will present AN AMERICAN WORKER, a world premiere play and lyrics by Tom Attea with music composed by Arthur Abrams. The musical drama spotlights the harsh realities of the families of steelworkers in a Pennsylvania town where the steel mill, which has been the principal employer for 75 years, announces its impending closure. The production is slated for an off-Broadway run December 26, 2014 - January 18, 2015, with the official opening on January 8, at Theater for the New City (155 First Avenue). Mark Marcante will direct the production. Choreography is by Angela Harriell. www.TheaterfortheNewCity.net

THE BACHELOR's Gia Allemand Dies at 29

Allemand, who appeared on the 14th season of the show and vied for the love of Jake Pavelka, was rushed to New Orleans' University Hospital on Monday night. Upon being admitted, she was listed as in criticial condition, and placed on life support. According to ABC News, the cause was an apparent suicide.
