Bobby Cronin & Friends return to Birdland tonight, November 5 at 7pm.

Some of Broadway's best young talent will sing dazzling new arrangements of songs from Beyonce's four hit albums, including a few selections from her previous group, Destiny's Child. The concert is the third of the "Broadway Sings" series; previously honored were Adele and Michael Jackson.

On the heels of winning the Alec Baldwin Fellowship for his music & lyrics on ‘Til Death Do Us Part, and recording the International Studio Cast Recording of The Concrete Jungle with Nick Lloyd Webber and James D. Reid in London, award winning composer/writer Bobby Cronin returns to the Broadway at Birdland concert series with a night of all new material interpreted by some of today's top Broadway and West End performers. This one-night event will be produced by Karie Koppel, with orchestrations by Michael Haslam and Drew Overcash. Musical Direction by William Demaniow, Direction by Johanna Pinzler.

Is it possible that "Rent", Jonathan Larson's groundbreaking hit from 1996 has now become so dated that it no longer has the edge it once had? Or is it that the current production from the 5th Avenue Theatre is so desperately trying to be edgy that it shows its weakness? That is the question before us. But whatever you feel about the show itself, the current production at the 5th takes so many missteps that it's hard to see the show as anything but an adorable relic.

The 5th Avenue Theatre takes Seattle behind-the-scenes of RENT at the latest installment of the 5th's free Spotlight Night series. Hosted by 5th Avenue Theatre Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong, the event takes place at 7:00 PM tonight, June 20, and will introduce audiences to the passionate young cast of Seattle-based stars, and will feature thrilling musical performances, and conversation with the creative team behind this exciting new approach to the beloved rock-opera.

High school students from across Washington State packed The 5th Avenue Theatre last night (June 4) for The 10th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater, a high school version of the Tony Awards sponsored by Wells Fargo. The house was packed with 2,100 teenagers in costume representing their schools' musical theater productions, who cheered for their peers as they performed musical excerpts and accepted awards honoring top student achievements in musical theater. The acclaimed program brought previous recipients from the last decade back to the stage (many of whom have gone on to successful arts careers locally and nationally) to hand out awards in 21 categories ranging from Outstanding Overall Musical Production to Outstanding Lobby Display. The award-winning Peccadillo Theater Company will present a staged reading of one of Eugene O'Neill's most autobiographical plays, The Straw tonight on Monday, June 4th at 7 pm at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues). The presentation will be directed by Peccadillo's OBIE and Lortel Award-winning artistic director, Dan Wackerman. The cast will feature Ellen Adair, Cyrilla Baer, Jacqueline Baum, Jeffrey C. Hawkins, Eric Hoffmann, Susan Jeffries, Jodie Lynne McClintock, Ryah Nixon, Keith Perry, Richard Poe and Lee Aaron Rosen. Tony Triano will narrate.

The 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theatre celebrates its tenth anniversary by bringing previous recipients back to the stage to present the next generation of musical theater stars with awards and accolades. The acclaimed program, sponsored by Wells Fargo, is a high school version of the Tony Awards, and allows theater students from across Washington to meet, celebrate, and honor the exceptional musical Theater Productions presented during the 2011-12 school year. A cast of Seattle's young rising theater stars, featuring Daniel Berryman, Aaron C. Finley, Naomi Morgan, Jerick Hoffer, Ryah Nixon, and Andi Alhadeff will take center stage, belting hits including "La Vie Boheme," "Take Me or Leave Me," "One Song Glory," and "Rent." Based on the Puccini opera La boheme, the hit musical premiered in 1996 to instant acclaim, and swept a host of theater awards - the Tony, the Obie, and the Pulitzer.
