Last night two-time Tony Award-winner Viola Davis made history as the first African-American to win an Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. She was recognized for her role as the brilliant attorney and professor Annalise Keating on the Shonda Rhimes drama HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER. In addition to her Emmy and Tonys, Davis has won three Drama Desks and three SAG Awards. During her acceptance speech, Davis quoted Harriet Tubman and talked about breaking boundaries and redefining what Hollywood thinks of as beautiful.

Greene Performance Space at WNYC & WQXR undertook a historic undertaking: to record -- for the first time -- all 10 plays from August Wilson's lauded American Century Cycle. Those audio recordings, along with exclusive video excerpts and photographs from the readings, are now being made available for online streaming on a time-limited basis here until August 26, 2015.

Jujamcyn Theaters and True Colors Theatre Company have announced the judges for the 7th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition on Monday, May 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). The event, which is free and open to the public, features high school students from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, Portland and Seattle performing monologues by the late, legendary American playwright.

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

TNT Picks Up Syndication Rights to GRIMM

Grimm is coming to TNT. The top-rated drama network has closed a deal with NBCUniversal Television & New Media Distribution that gives TNT exclusive off-net cable rights to the hit series. TNT plans to begin airing episodes from the first three seasons of Grimm in early 2015, with season four episodes available to join the lineup in fall 2015.

NBC Renews CHICAGO FIRE, CHICAGO P.D. and GRIMM

NBC has announced it is renewing dramas 'Chicago Fire,' 'Chicago P.D.' and 'Grimm' for the 2014-15 season. The network previously picked up 'The Blacklist' (season 2) 'Parks and Recreation' (season 7), 'The Voice' (season 7) and 'Celebrity Apprentice' (season 14). NBC is winning the season in adults 18-49, and ranked #1 for the first time in 10 years this late in the season. The network is up 20% versus one year ago, with its highest rating 25 weeks into the season in six years.
