Chances are, when you hear the name Dorothy, you think of one thing and one thing only: The Wizard of Oz. This is the tagline to one of the most successful Broadway musicals of all time: Wicked. Currently playing a three-week stint at the Majestic Theatre, Wicked is the the untold story of the Witches of Oz.

With rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz now well underway - and the first preview just a few days away - our Dorothy, Danielle Hope, gives us a quick tour of her dressing room, shows off her ruby slippers, and gives us a glimpse of her Dorothy outfit!

Talking to the UK Telegraph, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber tells the paper that The Wizard of Oz, which opens in February 2011 in London (and already has a $13+ million dollar advance) will play America next, with talks underway to do a television casting show for Dorothy as he's done in the UK. Britain's loss could be America's gain, however. 'A couple of the networks in the US have wanted to build something around what I do on TV, and I think with Oz something is definitely going to happen there. The X Factor juggernaut is going to be huge there next year but other networks are looking for something to go against it. Once we've found a Dorothy in the US, my instinct is to open the show in Kansas [Dorothy's home].'

When I asked my son what part of THE WIZARD OF OZ he liked the best he said: 'All of it.' So, I pressed him a little further, and asked who his favorite character was, and he said: 'The Wicked Witch.' I can only say that I wasn't surprised by his answers, but I was surprised by his stamina, as he sat riveted by the action taking place on stage for 2 and 1/2 hours. The touring company at the Fox Theatre this weekend (November 26-28) has conjured up a solid and engaging effort that's greatly enhanced by some memorable special effects wizardry that's particularly effective during the twister sequence.
