The Insights & Revelations Performance Series Is Now In Residence At The Emelin Theatre For 2009/2010 Season

The Insights & Revelations Performance Series, is delighted to be in residence at The Emelin Theatre of Mamaroneck for the 2009/2010 season. There, the Series will present a wide range of sneak previews and behind-the-scenes looks at New York City's finest off-Broadway companies, with its signature moderated artist discussion and reception following each performance.

IGNITED STATES in association with Crosstown Playwrights are pleased to announce their production of Daniel McCoy?s ELI AND CHERYL JUMP, directed by Nicole A. Watson. ELI AND CHERYL JUMP will be performed as part of The New York International Fringe Festival at Venue#9 The Players Loft (115 MacDougal St, 3rd Floor). Performances begin August 14th and continue through August 29th.

Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse season will continue through Sunday, August 2, with the Mainstage play Vera Laughed (through 8/2); the Martel Musical Tina Girlstar (7/31 - 8/1); the ever-popular Readings Festival 2 (7/30 - 8/2); and a free concert reading by the Powerhouse Apprentice Company of the new musical Hello! My Baby.

Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater announces the cast for the first of three Mainstage productions of the 25th anniversary season: Ninety, by Joanna Murray-Smith, directed by Maria Mileaf, beginning performances June 30 and running through July 12, and new additions to the star-filled line-up for the 25th anniversary gala benefit, 'Silver Celebration under the Stars,' June 27.

New York Theatre Workshops Presents THINGS OF DRY HOURS 6/8-6/28

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Things of Dry Hours, written by Naomi Wallace and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, will begin performances Friday, May 22, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at 7:00pm. The production will run through Sunday, June 28.

The Shakespeare Society (Michael Sexton, Artistic Director) has announced that Dances with Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night?s Dream, a collaboration with the New York City Ballet (NYCB), will take place on Monday, June 8, at 7:00pm at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, East 68 Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. 3rd Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition National Finals To be Held 4/27

The 3rd Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition National Finals will be held Monday, April 27th at The August Wilson Theatre on Broadway. The competition will feature 9 competitors from the regional finals in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and New York performing monologues from August Wilson's Century Cycle and will award a $10,000 scholarship to the winner.

The Shakespeare Society (Michael Sexton, Artistic Director) has announced that the Shakespeare Birthday Marathon, a FREE five-hour celebration of the Bard's 445th birthday, will take place Sunday, April 26, 3:30 - 8:30pm at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. There will be free general admission and no reservations are taken.

Bill Nunn & Point Park Univ. Reach Out To Schools, Create A Play About Choices

The Bill Nunn Theatre Outreach Project and Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts are partnering for the second year to take theatre into local schools. Nunn is working with a cast of six Conservatory students to develop a play about choices. John Amplas, an associate professor in the Conservatory, is producing the project.

The Tony Award® -winning McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ, has announced the complete cast for the world premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's landmark trilogy The Brother/Sister Plays. Presented in two parts, the production will be presented with a single cast and performed in repertory in McCarter's Berlind Theatre. The Brother/Sister Plays is co-produced with New York's Public Theater.

LeAp Hosts 1st August Wilson Monologue Competition Tonight At Washington Irving

Learning through an Expanded Arts Program, LeAp, presents the first ever NYC August Wilson Monologue Competition. The 16 winners from the preliminary rounds at Hillcrest High School, Curtis High School, Fordham High School for the Arts, and Gramercy Arts High School will perform soaring, lyrical monologues from revered playwright August Wilson's Century Cycle plays on April 6 at the Washington Irving High School Auditorium from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
