New York Shakespeare Exchange announces the next ShakesBEER, NYC's original Shakespearean Pub Crawl, running Todays from September 15 - 29, 2018 at 3pm. The pub crawl begins at Jasper's Taphouse (761 9thAvenue, NYC) at 2:30pm and moves to The Gaf (401 W 48thStreet, NYC), Perdition (692 10thAvenue, NYC), and The Waylon (736 10thAvenue, NYC). Check-in is at 2:30pm at Jasper's Taphouse. Tickets are $49 and are available at www.ShakespeareExchange.org.Tickets include performance and four drinks (beer, wine, and select cocktails).

Thirteen Independent Feature Film Projects Selected to Attend Sundance Institute Directors & Screenwriters Labs

Thirteen new independent feature projects from the U.S., Cuba, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, and Palestine have been selected for the 2018 Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Labs. At the Directors Lab (May 28-June 21), filmmakers will rehearse, shoot and edit key scenes from their scripts, working closely with industry advisors, actors, and production crews to help drive creative growth via an immersive and hands-on experience at the Sundance Resort in Utah. The Screenwriters Lab from June 23-28  fosters a similar environment of dynamic inspiration as participants focus on the art and craft of screenplay writing with one-on-one support from Institute advisors . Overseen by Feature Film Program Founding Director Michelle Satter and Labs Director Ilyse McKimmie, the Labs begin a year-round continuum of customized support for Fellows, which can include creative mentorship, granting, and guidance from industry professionals.

The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, announced the winners of the two Audience Awards - the audience choice for best narrative and documentary feature films - sponsored by AT&T. To Dust, written and directed by Shawn Snyder, was honored with the Narrative award and United Skates, directed by Dyana Winkler and Tina Brown, was given the Documentary award. Each award comes with a cash prize of $10,000.

A new Shakespeare festival emphasizing inclusivity and diversity is being launched by New York Shakespeare Exchange (NYSX) this spring. Running from April 23 through May 19, the 1st annual Shakespeare for Everyone Festival will have as its centerpiece the world premieres of eight new short plays in heightened language by a group of authors who identify with social, ethnic or gender-based communities with limited interaction with mainstream Shakespeare work and fields of study.

On Saturday, October 14, the 18th annual Woodstock Film Festival Maverick Awards Ceremony took place at Backstage Studio Productions in Kingston, NY. More than 500 filmmakers, film industry members, community leaders, and audience members attended the event held in the heart of Kingston's Uptown Historic District.
