Joffrey Ballet Presents UNIQUE VOICES Contemporary Program, 2/11

On the proverbial heels of its recent record-breaking engagement of Robert Joffrey's The Nutcracker, The Joffrey Ballet continues its 2014-15 season with “Unique Voices,” a winter program of three contemporary ballets including the U.S. Premiere of Tulle by Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman, alongside the Chicago Premieres of Canadian choreographer James Kudelka's The Man in Black and Australian choreographer Stanton Welch's Maninyas. These three leading artists, all former Joffrey guest choreographers, return with work in distinctly different styles from what Chicagoans have seen before. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Ashley Wheater, The Joffrey Ballet presents “Unique Voices” in ten performances only at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Parkway,February11-22, 2015.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Launch Houston Ballet's 2014-15 Season; Lineup Announced!

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

April 26, 2014 marks the 450th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth. In honor of this milestone in world culture, Houston Ballet will present dance interpretations of great Shakespearean works by choreographers from three continents: a lavish new production of Romeo and Juliet by Stanton Welch; the company premiere of John Neumeier's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a revival of John Cranko's The Taming of the Shrew.

Original Works, SWAN LAKE, THE NUTCRACKER & More Set for Houston Ballet's 2013-14 Season

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch has announced the company's 2013-2014 season. Eight new works enter Houston Ballet's repertoire, including world premieres by James Kudelka, Garrett Smith and Melissa Hough in September 2013; the North American premiere of David Bintley's Aladdin in February 2014; company premieres of Jiri Kylian's Sechs Tanze, Christopher Bruce's Intimate Pages and Stanton Welch's Of Blessed Memory as well as a world premiere A Young Person's Guide to Orchestra by Mr. Welch in March 2014.

Adelaide Chamber Singers Present TALES OF TWO CITIES at St. Peter's Cathedral Tonight

The first concert in the 2013 series by acclaimed Adelaide Chamber Singers entitled Tales of Two Cities will be held tonight, 8 June at 6.30pm in St Peter's Cathedral, North Adelaide and repeated on Sunday 9 June at 3pm in Church of the Epiphany Crafers. On Sunday 16 June the ACS performs Tales of Two Cities at 3pm Great Hall, University of Sydney.

Rising star Australian mezzo-soprano Fiona Campbell will perform her first complete Dido alongside some of Australia's best young and experienced singers, Anna Fraser, Penelope Mills, Richard Butler, Tobias Cole, Alexander Knight with Sydney Philharmonia's Chamber Singers and period instrumental ensemble, conducted by Brett Weymark.
