Tony Award winning musical tour deserves an A++

PALESTINE, a new play written and performed by Najla Saïd - an actress, writer and daughter of the late Palestinian-American scholar and activist Edward Saïd - has been extended for two weeks - now through April 3 - it has been announced by Sturgis Warner and Louis D. Moreno, co-artistic directors of the Twilight Theatre Company, which is presenting the world-premiere of the play in association with New York Theatre Workshop at the East 4th Street Theatre (83 E. 4 St.) in Manhattan.

Beginning performances on Tuesday, March 23, MANDY GONZALEZ, who originated the role of Nina in the Broadway musical, In the Heights, will assume the role of Elphaba in the musical blockbuster WICKED. Mandy joins a cast which includes Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda, Tony Award-winner Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Andy Karl as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Jenny Fellner as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond. The role of Elphaba is currently being played by Dee Roscioli.

Crown City Theatre Company is staging Thomas Babe's play, 'A Prayer For My Daughter' at the Crown City Theatre in Hollywood. The show will run until February 28. First played at Joseph Papp's Public Theater in New York 1978, this plays bizarre, poetic quality and edgy dialogue make it a play to remember.  The characters display both their masculine and feminine sides as part of a master game of manipulation.  Someone is going down for murder and no one is leaving the precinct.  Not even Detective Kelly, who's daughter may be on the verge of suicide.

The reading will take place as a benefit for V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls. The cast for the benefit will include ennifer and Peter Buffett, Eve Ensler, Cynthia Nixon, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, and David Stone and V-Board members Rosario Dawson, Beth Dozoretz, Donna Karan, Katherine McFate, Pat Mitchell, Cari Ross, and Kerry Washington.

Seattle Opera will open its production of Verdi's hot-blooded melodrama Il Trovatore on January 16, 2010. The production will run for eight performances through January 30.

Filipino-American actress Arielle Jacobs is currently playing the lead role of Nina Rosario in the first national tour of Tony and Grammy-winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS. The tour kicked off in Tampa, Florida last October 27, 2009 and will end in Costa Mesa, California on August 15, 2010.
