The Poetic Heritage Festival celebrates the work of distinguished artists - including Miguel Algarin, Ishmael Reed, Amiri Baraka Sandra Maria Esteves and Ntozake Shange - who are closely associated with the creation and history of the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. This festival is made possible in part by the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts' American Masterpieces Program. All events in the Poetic Heritage Festival will take place at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe's multi-arts performance space at 236 East 3rd Street, between Avenues B and C.
