Tickets to Julie Taymor's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at Polonsky Shakespeare Center Now on Sale

Single tickets go on sale today, September 13, for Theatre for a New Audience's inaugural production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by multiple Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor with original music composed by Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning Elliot Goldenthal, at the Theatre's newly-named building, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street, Brooklyn.

Founded in 1979 by its Artistic Director, Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience's next act is about to begin with the opening of its Center for Shakespeare and Classical Drama in Brooklyn. The inaugural production is Julie Taymor's staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare with original music by Elliot Goldenthal. FST is opening its third show of the season, South Beach Babylon. Written by one of South Florida's most celebrated playwrights, Michael McKeever, this play tells the story of Jonas Blodgen who is fresh out of art school… and ideas. When he lands a job in South Beach he is thrown into a world full of intense artists, alluring models and cutthroat curators.

Acorn Productions, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing and developing the Southern Maine community of performing artists, has selected the scripts for this year's twelfth annual Maine Playwrights Festival (MPF).

Lauren Ferebee's stirring drama Somewhere Safer will be the first play presented by On the Square Productions' Write Angle Reading series at University Settlement. The reading will take place tonight, October 15th at 7:30pm in Speyer Hall where On the Square Production is an Artist-In-Residence for their 2012-2013 season.

The 7th Annual New York's Funniest Reporter Show (http://www.nyfunniestreporter.com) will take place on Thursday, September 27th at 8:00 pm at Comic Strip Live (1568 Second Ave / bet 81st & 82nd) comedy club. It will feature six media professionals each doing five minutes of stand up comedy in order to raise money for the Humane Society of New York (http://www.humanesocietyny.org/). At the end of the night, a winner will be declared.

Sonnet Repertory Theatre celebrates a decade of producing classic theatre for the modern planet with a world-premiere adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Michael Raver, directed by Quin Gordon. The Picture of Dorian Gray will begin performances tonight, August 9, with an official opening slated for Friday, August 10, at The Studio Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.
