Goodman Theatre opens its 2012/2013 Season in the Owen Theatre with playwright, actor and poet Dael Orlandersmith's Black n Blue Boys/Broken Men, a co-commission with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Directed by Chay Yew, Black n Blue Boys/Broken Men is Orlandersmith's solo-performed examination of humanity's capacity for hope and survival, rendered through the eyes of five men ages 11 to 50.
This spring, Goodman Theatre broadens the scope of its Latino Theatre Festival, an event that has introduced more than 160,000 Chicagoans to prominent Latino theater companies around the globe-from Spain to Mexico to Brazil-for the past decade. Under the direction of Goodman Resident Artistic Associate and Festival Curator Henry Godinez, Latino Fest 2013 will span over an extended time period to run in conjunction with the height of the season.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) convened 1,000 theatre practitioners from around the world at its 22nd National Conference June 21-23 in Boston. This year's conference was the culmination of TCG's 50th anniversary and the beginning of TCG's year-round conference and online community, Conference 2.0. The conference theme of Model the Movement invited attendees to transform their field into a movement for the digital age by better sharing, measuring and adapting models of making theatre. Executive Director Teresa Eyring also publically shared for the first time TCG's new vision statement.
Artistic Director Robert Falls announced today that he will direct a major revival and new adaptation of Measure for Measure, Shakespeare's darkly comic collision of vice and virtue, in Goodman Theatre's 2012/2013 season, March 9 - April 14, 2013. Also, director David Cromer announced partial casting for his production of Sweet Bird of Youth: Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-nominee Diane Lane appears as Princess Kosmonopolis and Finn Wittrock, who recently appeared in Broadway's Death of a Salesman with Philip Seymour Hoffman, is cast as the young-actor-turned-gigolo Chance Wayne. For her all-new 10th anniversary production, Taylor has engaged community partners and used workshops to explore and deepen the spoken word, dance and music elements in Crowns. Goodman Theatre's cast of Race by David Mamet took a break from rehearsal yesterday morning to join more than 200 volunteers from City Year Chicago and One Good Deed Chicago in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Together with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, actors Geoffrey Owens and Tamberla Perry, along with Director Chuck Smith and Executive Director Roche Schulfer, painted a classroom at the North Lawndale YMCA (3449 W.
