London FELA! To be Filmed and Broadcast

Audiences around the world will be able to experience FELA!, the new hit Broadway musical about the life and music of legendary Nigerian performer and political activist Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, when it is broadcast in January 2011 on movie screens around the globe as part of NT Live, the initiative by London's National Theatre to broadcast live performances of plays to a world audience.

Geva Theatre Center Presents FIVE COURSE LOVE, May 5-June 6. Gregg Coffin's musical returns to the home of its birth following worldwide acclaim. The cast features Broadway actors Troy Britton Johnson (THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, WILL ROGERS FOLLIES and DAMN YANKEES), Kevin Ligon (THE PRODUCERS, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN and FINIAN'S RAINBOW) and Kristen Mengelkoch (FORBIDDEN BROADWAY). The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) 2009-10 season culminates in the highly anticipated world premiere production of The Tosca Project, created and staged by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff and San Francisco Ballet's Val Caniparoli. Conjuring a world in which love, betrayal, and hope emerge from the shadows and disappear with the clink of a glass, this gorgeously choreographed and achingly moving dance-theater piece brings together internationally acclaimed artists from San Francisco Ballet with a cast of renowned actors.

Last night, May 20, the producers of FELA! hosted a post-theater reception at The Palm in midtown for Broadway national tour presenters from across the country who are in town for the Spring League Conference and for members of the FELA! company in celebration of thier 11 Tony Award nominations - the most of any show this season. In attendence were Tony nominated producers Jay-Z, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Stephen & Ruth Hendel, Tony-nominated director & choreographer Bill T. Jones, and Tony-nominated stars Sahr Ngaujah and Lillias White. BroadwayWorld was also on hand to celebrate.

New York City Opera To Begin Its 2010 Spring Season on March 18

New York City Opera will celebrate the opening of its 2010 Spring Season on Thursday, March 18, with a gala performance of Emmanuel Chabrier's glittering, comic L'Étoile, followed by a grand evening on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater and dancing to waltzes played by the New York City Opera Orchestra.

Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's PRIVATE LIVES Closes 3/7

The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre will present a new staging of Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES. The play, set in a hotel balcony, will presented in the round in the new staging, by acclaimed Chicago director Gary Griffin. Performances for the production will begin January 6th. The company has added new seating to its Courtyard Theatre in order to accommodate Griffin's idea, adding seats around the proscenium.

As previously reported, My Girl's Anna Chlumsky and Kristen Johnston are set to headline the Mint Theater Company's SO HELP ME GOD! The Off-Broadway run, which will begin previews November 18th, opens officially at the Lucile Lortel Theatre Dec. 7 and runs through Dec. 20. Today, the full cast and creative team have been announced.
