Patrika Darbo to Host 9th Annual Indie Series Awards

Television and film star Patrika Darbo will host the 9th Annual Indie Series Awards  ceremony on April 4 at The Colony Theatre in Burbank. CA, producers Roger Newcomb, Kevin Mulcahy Jr. and Susan Bernhardt revealed today.  

BOSCH Star Directs At Skypilot Theatre

Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, a member of the cast of the Amazon hit show BOSCH, is helping out SkyPilot Theatre by directing her good friend, Inda Craig-Galvan's play, Tinder…Sucka, as part of the SkyPilot's fundraiser, Return of the Living Fundraiser evening on Friday, Feb 23rd at Theatre Of Arts at 1625 N. Las Palmas in Hollywood. The reception starts at 7PM and the show of 5 ten-minute comedy one acts starts at 8 PM. The evening features silent auctions, drawings and door prizes plus food and drinks. Admission is 15 dollars at the door.  

Austin Film Fest Announces I, TONYA, Jim Gaffigan, Robert Townsend & More

Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today a late addition to its film slate. I, TONYA, the darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history, will serve as AFF's second Closing Night Film. Directed by Craig Gillespie, I TONYA stars Margot Robbie as Harding, Sebastian Stan as her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, and Allison Janney as Harding's acid-tongued mother. Writer Steven Rogers will be in attendance for the screening.

After a sold-out and critically-acclaimed run at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in April 2017, CRE Outreach, in partnership with the Veterans Empowerment Theatre, is pleased to announce a one-weekend extension of THE HERO WITHIN, the powerful play which brings 7 local veterans' personal stories to life through an artistic journey that gives voice to the difficulty of transitioning from the war zone back into society as they search for the hero within themselves. The show includes both lighthearted comedy and dramatic moments that will leave audiences on the edge of their seat.

Adventure Stage Chicago Season 14 Features AKEELAH AND THE BEE

???????Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC), the participatory arts program of Northwestern Settlement (the Settlement), announces its 14th season of programming for young audiences, exploring the theme of "Literacy" as the company applies its mission of telling heroic stories to the Settlement objective of disrupting generational poverty. ASC's "Literacy" season features the stage adaptation of Akeelah and the Bee; a commissioned work by Lucas Baisch, based on the Guatemalan myths of Popol Vuh and created in collaboration with community partners; and an original piece devised by ASC's Trailblazers youth mentorship program.  All performances take place at Northwestern Settlement's Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for youth aged 14 years and younger. Group tickets are $10 for ten or more guests. Student matinee tickets are $7 for CPS and $8 for non-CPS groups. The Umbilical Brothers Announce New Performance Schedule for SPEEDMOUSE at Theatre 80

The Umbilical Brothers announce a change in their performance schedule for the New York City run of their hit show, Speedmouse (re-squeaked), at Theatre 80.  Monday and Tuesday performances will move to matinees on Saturday and Sunday.  Produced by WestBeth Entertainment, tickets are $35.00 plus fees and are onsale now.

Northwest Folklife's Executive Director to Retire

 Northwest Folklife Board of Directors today announced that the nonprofit's executive director Robert Townsend will retire after nearly a decade at his post. Townsend's tenure has been a remarkable period of inclusion and evolution for the organization that has actively kept pace with the evolving cultural communities of the Pacific Northwest.
