Today in 1960, Camelot opened at the Majestic Theatre, where it ran for 873 performances. Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White tetralogy novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, won four Tony Awards and spawned several revivals, foreign productions and a 1967 film version.

Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White tetralogy novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, ran on Broadway for 873 performances, winning four Tony Awards and spawning several revivals, foreign productions and a 1967 film version. The 1980 cast starred Richard Burton, Christine Ebersole, and Richard Muenz.

Atlantic Wind Symphony to Play Patchogue Theatre, 6/1

The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts in partnership with the Atlantic Wind Symphony will present BAND SELECTIONS TO DANCE BY: MUSIC WRITTEN TO CELEBRATE CULTURAL DANCE on Sunday, June 1 at 3:00 PM. Selections in this performance include Robert Russell Bennetts' 'Suite of Old American Dances,' David Holsingers' 'Liturgical Dances,' and 'Yiddish Dances' by Adam Gorb. In addition, the concert will also feature the winner of our annual student solo competition performing with the professional members of the Atlantic Wind Symphony. The Atlantic Wind Symphony is Long Islands' oldest fully professional concert band featuring only Long Island musicians.
