FISHSKIN TROUSERS Comes to Park Theatre

In the 1200AD Chronicon Anglicanum, Ralph of Coggeshall documented the tale of the Wild Man of Orford. Describing a naked wild man, covered in hair, the mysterious figure was caught in the nets of local fishermen around 1167. Mute and feral, the man was imprisoned in Orford Castle for six months before vanishing without a trace. Accounts of the era questioned if the captive was a merman, though it would be centuries until such a story could be reconsidered as a mental health problem.

Finborough Theatre's World Premiere of FISHSKIN TROUSERS Begins Tonight

The world premiere of multi-award-winning playwright Elizabeth Kuti's FISHSKIN TROUSERS will receive a four week run at the Finborough Theatre, opening tonight, 3 September 2013. The production is complemented by the return of the FINBOROUGHFORUM, a series of events, discussions and debates, both on the play itself and the current state of new writing for the theatre in the UK, following every performance on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 9.00pm from 11 September 2013.

Finborough Theatre's Autumn 2013 Season is devoted to new writing with new plays from two multi-award-winning dramatists; the debut of a first time playwright - the winner of this year's Papatango New Writing Prize in partnership with the Finborough Theatre; the return of its FINBOROUGHFORUM series of events and discussions; and the fifth year of Vibrant 2013 - A Festival of Finborough Playwrights, our annual explosion of new writing. This season also sees two of Finborough's acclaimed rediscoveries with another rare play from J.B. Priestley, and Michael Hastings' Lee Harvey Oswald, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy. Finborough also presents a special one night fundraising event - An Evening with Dame Diana Rigg on Sunday, 20 October 2013.

The Vagabond Theatre Project is a University of Houston student run production company that focuses on bringing Houston audiences pieces of theatre that they feel passionate about. Though Vagabond Theatre Project, these intrepid students are expanding their educations and exploring the business aspects of the industry. With no permanent home, they move from space to space, building their resumes with laudable directorial, acting, stage managing, house managing, and producing credits.

Tommy Tune Awards Nominations Announced

John C. Breckenridge, President and CEO of Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), announced today the nominations and presenters for TUTS' ninth annual Tommy Tune Awards which will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Developed by TUTS, the Tommy Tune Awards honor musical theatre excellence at the high school level. Presenters this year will include Houston-area native, Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) graduate and cast member in Broadway's revival of La Cage Aux Folles, Logan Keslar. Also presenting will be last year's Tommy Tune Award winner for Best Leading Actress, Stephanie Styles. To complete the evening, the ceremony's namesake, Tommy Tune, will be a special guest presenter for one of the awards.
