On Monday, July 29 the North Carolina Opera announced its new season at a kick-off event hosted by CAM Raleigh. Over 250 fans and friends of the organization excitedly gathered for the unveiling of the new season presented by NCO Artistic Director & Principal Conductor Timothy Myers, and to hear live performances of excerpts from each opera.

Maine State Music Theatre is thrilled to present a one night only concert starring Suzanne Nance and Friends on Monday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. This intimate evening of song will showcase a variety of songs from opera including George Gershwin's, 'Summertime' from PORGY AND BESS; Leo Delibe's 'Lakme Duet (Flower Duet)' from LAKME; George Bizet's 'Au fond du temple saint' from THE PEARL FISHERS; Giacomo Puccini's 'O Soave Faciulla' from LA BOHEME; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 'La ci darem la mano' from DON GIOVANNI; and Gioacchino and Rossini's 'The Cat Duet.'

Ann Wallenmeyer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arizona Musicfest, today announced the appointment of Allan E. Naplan as Executive Director, effective February 1, 2013. Allan Naplan has enjoyed a twenty-year career as a performing artist, composer, educator and arts administrator. Most recently, he served as President and General Director of Minnesota Opera.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston has finalized casting
for its annual holiday revue CHRISTMASTIME, now in its 30th edition. Broadway stars Sarah Pfisterer (Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat) and Rick Hilsabeck (Billy Elliot, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) return to Reagle after their highly acclaimed run in My Fair Lady this past summer to lead a cast of nearly 200 in this beloved musical spectacular. CHRISTMASTIME is scheduled for 10 performances only, tonight, December 7-16 at the Robinson Theatre, 617 Lexington Street, Waltham. The matinee on Sunday, December 9 at 1:00 pm is already sold out.

California Symphony Announces 'The Romance of the Cello' Concert, 1/22

Contra Costa County's only professional orchestra, California Symphony, presents the second regular concert of its 25th Anniversary Season, the Romance of the Cello, featuring world-renowned cellist and classical music "rock star" Joshua Roman. Internationally renowned conductor Robert Moody will lead this performance, featuring Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto, and Sergei Rachmaninoff's towering Symphony No. 2. The Romance of the Cello will take place at 4 pm Sunday, January 22, 2012at the Lesher Center for the Arts (1601 Civic Center Drive, Walnut Creek).
