Composer Kaija Saariaho is a woman of few words but potent music, judging by her comments about her acclaimed opera, L'AMOUR DE LOIN, and the excerpts performed at the Guggenheim's Works & Process series several weeks ago, in preparation for the opera's much-anticipated Met debut on Thursday, December 1.

This Saturday, December 3 at 8 pm, Ash Lawn Opera launches its 40th Season as Charlottesville, Virginia's premier opera company with a special performance of by world-renowned tenor Jay Hunter Morrisat The Paramount Theater. Morris -- the self-proclaimed 'blue-collar opera singer' -- will perform beloved opera arias, jazz, and country; play guitar; and tell stories about his life on the road. In conjunction with the Virginia Festival of the Book, Morris will sign copies of his autobiography, Diary of a Redneck Opera Zinger, a hilarious chronicle of his 15-year career, immediately following the performance.

On Today, November 26, iconic American composer Philip Glass will be awarded The Eleventh Glenn Gould Prize at an exclusive concert in his honour, presented by The Glenn Gould Foundation and the NAC Orchestra.  The Genius of Philip Glass features the NAC Orchestra led by guest conductor Dennis Russell Davies performing a concert of music spanning the legendary composer's career.

Working as an actor, playwright, and director he is constantly creating work in theatre, film, and opera. Since founding his theater company Ex Machina in 1994, his work has toured festivals worldwide and has won him great international acclaim. In his work, Lepage draws from contemporary history as a source of inspiration, and he has been at the forefront of telling stories through the use of new technology.

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the 2017 Winter/Spring Season. The season runs from January 11 through June 10 and comprises theater, dance, music, and opera in the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House and the BAM Harvey Theater.
