The West End show donates booking fees and merchandising profits to Leukaemia Research

THE SOUND OF MUSIC is now onstage at The Princess of Wales Theatre, 300 King Street West in Toronto, ON. Tickets are on sale for performances through September 6, 2009.

On June 29th, 2009, the best of the best of Canada's Theatre scene all gathered together to celebrate the 30th Anniversary Dora Awards. Named after Dora Mavor Moore, the awards are given out annually in five different categories: General Theatre, Indepedent Theatre, Dance, Opera and Theatre for Young Audiences. This year, Agokwe, from Ojibwa artist Waawaate Fobister won a leading six awards.

Raymond Gubbay and the Royal Albert Hall have announced a spectacular new fully staged in the round production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical The King and I. For a strictly limited season of only 20 performances the show will star one of the UK's best loved performers Maria Friedman, who appears alongside Daniel Dae Kim, star of the massive hit TV series Lost.

At a press conference held today at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 176 nominations from 218 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009 for the 30th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

Michael Praed will star as 'Captain Von Trapp' alongside Connie Fisher as 'Maria' in the National UK tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and The Really Useful Group's smash hit production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC' opening at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 26 July 2009, where it will play until 29 August 2009 (Box Office: 08700 40 2000). Also in the cast are Joan Blackham, Abby Francis, Gary Lilburn, Gerard McDermot and Carl Prekopp.

WhatsOnStage.com is reporting that the UK's Daily Mail revealed that Ann-Margret, the star of such musical films as State Fair, Bye Bye Birdie, Viva Las Vegas and Tommy is looking into stripping it all off for Calendar Girls in the West End.

LOST star Daniel Dae Kim will departs the island of Hawaii for the spotlight of the London stage this coming summer to star in a new production of musical The King and I. The Korean-born Kim was a guest on 'The View' this morning and spoke about his taking on the iconic role of the 'King of Siam' for the UK mounting. He explained that it would be produced in the UK, 'It's actually going to be in London at the Royal Albert Hall. We start rehearsals start in May'.
