Constantine Maroulis-Led JEKYLL & HYDE to Arrive on Broadway in April 2013

As BroadwayWord previously reported, JEKYLL & HYDE will return to Broadway following a 25-week National Tour starring Tony Award Nominee Constantine Maroulis in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde. The tour will launch at San Diego's Civic Theatre in San Diego, California on October 2, 2012. Now, as revealed in a casting notice, the show is aiming to open on Broadway in April 2013.

Ford's Theatre Society just opened the Tony-winning musical 1776, directed by Peter Flynn, on March 9. The production runs though May 19, 2012. With 'quick-witted dialogue and a playful score,' 1776 dramatizes the impassioned debates of Philadelphia's Second Continental Congress and the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

The Town Hall (123 West 43 Street) has signed Award-winning Jazz singer Marilyn Maye, Tony Award winner, Ben Davis (Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme), Dameka Hayes, Audelco Award Nominee for It Ain't Nothing But The Blues and Jessie Mueller, who made her Broadway debut in On a Clear Day…, to perform in THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF 1946 on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 8pm.

Washington D.C.'s Ford's Theatre has just anounced the cast for their upcoming production of 1776. Featuring direction by Peter Flynn and choreography by Michael Bobbitt, the production will run March 9 through May 19. The star studded cast will include Robert Cuccioli as John Dickinson, Brooks Ashmanskas as John Adams, William Diggle as Thomas Jefferson, Gregory Maheu as Edward Rutledge, and Tom Story as Charles Thomson.

Chris Durang launched a comic nightclub act in 1989 called CHRIS DURANG & DAWNE (John Augustine and Sherry Anderson) that came back to play clubs all over the New York area for the next eight years until they made their last public performance in January of 1996.
Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Announces 50th Anniversary Season

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey today announced its 2012 season - the 50th Anniversary season of the state's largest professional theatre dedicated to Shakespeare and other world classics, and the longest running Shakespeare Theatre on the East Coast. Founded in 1963 in Cape May by Paul Barry and Philip Dorian as the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, the company was invited to take up residence at Drew University in 1972. 2012 also marks the 40th Anniversary of the Theatre's residency in Madison.
