The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will continue its Thompson Shelterhouse Theatre season with Arlene Hutton's engaging and endearing play LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC . This sweet journey of the heart begins public previews on March 28 and continues through April 26. Young lives intertwine when Raleigh, a recently discharged flyboy with ambitions of becoming a writer, and May, a woman who dreams of doing missionary work, board the same train to Los Angeles in the winter of 1940. They soon come to realize that not only are they headed in a similar direction, but their roots are closer than they could have dreamed.

As playwright Matthew Lombardo continues to develop the upcoming Arena Stage production of Looped starring four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Tallulah Bankhead, a casting change has taken place. Jay Goede, known for his work on Broadway in Angels in America, A Year with Frog and Toad and Sex and Longing, will now play opposite Harper in the pre-Broadway staging, directed by Rob Ruggiero at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre May 29 through June 28, 2009. The premise behind the concert series is that each concert will feature the music of a young, new musical theatre composer and a portion of the proceeds of each concert will be donated to a local charity. This first concert will feature the music of Scott Alan, one of New York City's finest new composers. Blending musical theater and pop sounds, Mr. Alan creates music with amazing heart and character. With two albums already on the market, ('Dreaming Wide Awake' and 'Keys'), Mr. Alan is well on his way to becoming a very successful composer. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will be donated to the AIDS Action Comittee of Massachusetts, whose mission is to the stop the HIV/AIDS epidemic by preventing new infections and optimizing the health of those already infected.

Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas has announced the line-up for Pittsburgh Public Theater's 09/10 season. The six-play subscription series begins October 1, 2009 and runs through June 27, 2010. 'Our audiences will experience a season of infinite variety,' Pappas said. 'Included are Shakespeare's best-loved play, a musical about the greatest jazz singer of all time, and a ferocious tour-de-force starring a great actress. Add to that a British comic masterpiece from a living genius and friend, a Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy by an American treasure, and a sweet surprise as the finale. This season has it all,' he said. In addition, The Public will present two special engagements.

TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford presents the New England Premiere of Dead Man's Cell Phone, the latest comedy by one of America's hottest contemporary playwrights, Sarah Ruhl (The Clean House, Eurydice, 2006 winner of the MacArthur 'Genius Grant'). The production runs January 30 through March 15, 2009 (please note the change in previously announced dates). Written in Ruhl's signature juxtaposition of keenly observed realities and hilarious flights of fantasy, Dead Man's Cell Phone 'takes surprising twists and leaps' (The New York Times). TheaterWorks' production is directed by Rob Ruggiero.

Twenty-one St. Louis theater companies are represented in the nominations for the fourth annual Kevin Kline Awards. Forty-two plays and musicals produced in the St. Louis area during 2008 now share 113 nominations in 22 different categories for the coveted award. The nominations were announced on KWMU-FM's 'Cityscape' today, January 16th, 2009. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis received the most nominations, 32, divided among seven different productions that were presented on its mainstage, and in both the Studio and Off-Ramp series. The Muny was the second-highest recipient, with 15 nominations. Stages St. Louis was the third theater to receive double-digit nominations, with 13. The satirical comedy The Little Dog Laughed, which was produced by the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis as part of its Off-Ramp series, received the most nominations (8), followed by seven nominations for My Fair Lady at the Muny. Eighty-two actors, directors, choreographers, playwrights and designers received nominations. Six artists received multiple nominations.

In Arena Stage's upcoming pre-Broadway showing of Matthew Lombardo's Looped, actor Jarrod Emick has been replaced by Chad Allen. Allen joins previously announced four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda in The Mary Tyler Moore Show) who stars as Tallulah Bankhead in this uproarious new comedy. Allen originally created the role of Danny Miller for the world premiere production of Looped at Pasadena Playhouse, and he is presently performing the role with Harper at the Cuillo Center in West Palm Beach Florida. Looped will play May 29-June 28, 2009 at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre.
