Single Tickets For PPT's ELLA Go On Sale 8/4, $15 Tickets Avaliable For Ages 26 And Younger

Single tickets for Pittsburgh Public Theater's big season-opener, Ella, go on sale Tues., Aug. 4 at 10 am. This hit bio-musical about the life and songs of Ella Fitzgerald runs Oct. 1 through Nov. 1 at the O'Reilly Theater. Directed by Rob Ruggiero, Ella will be played by Tina Fabrique. Joining her onstage are Harold Dixon as manager Norman Granz and an ensemble of actor/musicians. Single tickets are $40 to $60.

Pitts. Public Theater Announces 09-10 Season, Runs Thru 6/27

Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas has announced the line-up for Pittsburgh Public Theater's 09/10 season. The six-play subscription series begins October 1, 2009 and runs through June 27, 2010. 'Our audiences will experience a season of infinite variety,' Pappas said. 'Included are Shakespeare's best-loved play, a musical about the greatest jazz singer of all time, and a ferocious tour-de-force starring a great actress. Add to that a British comic masterpiece from a living genius and friend, a Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy by an American treasure, and a sweet surprise as the finale. This season has it all,' he said. In addition, The Public will present two special engagements.

Domingo, 'RIVER' Among Connecticut Critics Circle Award Winners

Goodspeed Musicals' production of 'Big River' and its director Rob Ruggiero are big winners of the 19th annual Connecticut Critics Circle awards, announced June 15. The show received nods for best musical, for Russell Joel Brown who played Big Jim as best actor in a musical, for Michael Schweikardt's sets, and for Ruggiero's direction.

Valerie Harper Stars In LOOPED, Makes Its D.C Premiere At Lincoln Theater 5/29

Arena Stage in association with Tony Cacciotti and David Steiner presents Looped starring four-time Emmy Award winner Valerie Harper (Rhoda, The Mary Tyler Moore Show) at the Lincoln Theatre. Created by Matthew Lombardo (writer of the hit play Tea at Five) and directed by Rob Ruggiero (director of Arena Stage's Ella) Looped tells the story of original celebrity bad girl Tallulah Bankhead.

Chad Allen Replaces Jarrod Emick In LOOPED

In Arena Stage's upcoming pre-Broadway showing of Matthew Lombardo's Looped, actor Jarrod Emick has been replaced by Chad Allen. Allen joins previously announced four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda in The Mary Tyler Moore Show) who stars as Tallulah Bankhead in this uproarious new comedy. Allen originally created the role of Danny Miller for the world premiere production of Looped at Pasadena Playhouse, and he is presently performing the role with Harper at the Cuillo Center in West Palm Beach Florida. Looped will play May 29-June 28, 2009 at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre.

Jay Goede Joins Cast Of LOOPED At Arena Stage 5/29-6/28

As playwright Matthew Lombardo continues to develop the upcoming Arena Stage production of Looped starring four-time Emmy Award-winning Valerie Harper (Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Tallulah Bankhead, a casting change has taken place. Jay Goede, known for his work on Broadway in Angels in America, A Year with Frog and Toad and Sex and Longing, will now play opposite Harper in the pre-Broadway staging, directed by Rob Ruggiero at Arena Stage at the Lincoln Theatre May 29 through June 28, 2009. Full release to follow at a later date.
