Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) and the Chautauqua Writers' Center have proudly partnered on their third new play commission, coming July 22 to the Bratton Theater stage.  This year's commission, The Profane, is written by the celebrated CTC New Play Workshop alum Zayd Dohrn (Sick - 2008, Muckrakers - 2012).  Directed by CTC Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and playing July 22 - 31 at the Chautauqua Institution. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW), Dale Franzen and Mara Isaacs announced today that HADESTOWN, a new folk opera written by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and developed with and directed by the three-time OBIE award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (The Royale; Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), will record a live cast album at the evening performances on Tuesday, June 28 and Wednesday, June 29.

HADESTOWN will now play additional performances through Sunday, July 31, 2016. Previews for HADESTOWN began Friday, May 6, 2016, and officially opened on Monday, May 23, 2016 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003).

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) and FABnyc will co-present a live show with the popular public radio show and podcast Person Place Thing with writer and humorist Randy Cohen, featuring HADESTOWN's celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and inventive two-time Obie award-winning director Rachel Chavkin at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003) on Monday, June 6 at 7:00 pm. The evening will also include musical interludes from HADESTOWN and a brief audience Q&A. Tickets are $10 and be purchased at www.fabnyc.org.

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the Public Lab production of TOAST, written by Lemon Andersen. Directed by Elise Thoron, TOAST begins previews on Tuesday, April 21 and runs through Sunday, May 10, with an official press opening on Tuesday, May 5.

Due to popular demand, the Arden Theatre Company announces a one week extension of Beauty and the Beast, based on the book by Charles Way and directed by Whit MacLaughlin. Beauty and the Beast, originally scheduled to close on February 1, 2015, now runs on the F. Otto Haas Stage through February 8, 2015 at the Arden Theatre Company, 40 N. 2nd Street.

Following their St. Joan Betrayed, Mary Tuomanen and Aaron Cromie are returning to the 2014 Fringe Festival, presented by Fringe Arts, with THE BODY LAUTREC. This inventive theatre piece will run tonight, September 12-22 at the Caplan Studio Theater at the University of the Arts, 211 S. Broad Street.
