Last week, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, the musical opened in NYC for a sold out run at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in NYC. Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET) Artistic Director Robert J. Farley has announced an exciting lineup of plays for the Company's 24th season of professional theatre in North Fulton County. Following an extraordinarily successful record-breaking year, the bar has been set high for GET as programming continues to grow and expand. The 2016-2017 season will take a journey through love, death, time, foreign lands, freedom fights, and even back to 1956 Memphis, Tennessee. With musicals, comedy, drama, and a world premiere, GET will once again offer an entertaining, enlightening, and illuminating variety of theatre for our patrons throughout north Georgia and beyond. In addition to the mainstage subscription series, GET will produce a four-play Theatre for Young Audiences series, and a four concert Big Band series.

Broadway World reported earlier today that Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions and Neal Street Productions announced that two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle(Something Rotten, Peter and the Starcatcher) will originate the role of Willy Wonka in the Broadway premiere of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY which begins performances in March 2017.

Matilda Wormwood is a precocious five-year old who loves to read and has the ability to perform telekinesis. She also likes to meet life's obstacles. She comes from a family in which her father wanted a male child, so he calls her 'boy,' has a mother who didn't know she was pregnant and when Matilda came along was irritated because it interfered with Mrs. Wormwood entering dancing competitions and carrying on an affair with her dance instructor, and whose fellow students think she is odd because she likes school and knows all the answers.

Wales Millennium Centre and National Theatre Wales have today called out to the people of Cardiff, Wales and Britain to take part in Roald Dahl's City of the Unexpected, Cardiff's landmark celebration of Wales' foremost storyteller. Director, Nigel Jamieson, leads the search for a cast of 6,000 volunteers, including 2,000 choristers, 1,000 dancers, 50 Morris Minor drivers, 40 bald men, 13 magicians, four brass bands, three excavator drivers, a Spitfire pilot, firemen, circus artists, aerialists, rockclimbers, grandparents, children and a performing mouse. Anyone interested in taking part, whether as a performer, a maker or an organiser, is encouraged to get in touch.
