Broadway Dance Lab's Spring 2018 Cycle Launches Today

Broadway Dance Lab (BDL), a non-profit choreography incubator supporting new works of dance-driven theatre, has announced that former New York City Ballet principal dancer, and Tony Award nominee, Robert Fairchild, will join Loni Landon and Ray Mercer as guest choreographers for the company's Spring 2018 Cycle. The Lab is set to begin on Feb. 26, and will culminate with a Gala performance on April 2 at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.

Latino Filmmakers Take Stage For Inclusion at the 2018 NALIP Media Summit

The National Association of Latino Independent Producers' (NALIP) Media Summit is the largest annual gathering of Latinos in media nationwide. The 2018 NALIP Media Summit will take place in Hollywood on June 21st-24th. Truly 'Back By Popular Demand' PINK MARTINI Returns To The McCallum With China Forbes And Storm Large

Pink Martini, a McCallum favorite returns for eight great shows Friday, February 9, through Thursday, February 15. In 1994 in his hometown of Portland, Thomas Lauderdale was working in politics, with the intention of eventually running for office. Like other eager politicians-in-training, he went to every political fundraiser under the sun, but was dismayed to find the music at these events underwhelming, lackluster, loud and un-neighborly. Drawing inspiration from music from all over the world, crossing genres of classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop, and hoping to appeal to conservatives and liberals alike, he founded the "little orchestra" Pink Martini in 1994 to provide beautiful and inclusive musical for political fundraisers for progressive causes such as civil rights, the environment and affordable housing.

American Pops Orchestra Launches Special VOCAL COMPETITION At Arena Stage, 3/23

Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - has teamed up with Washington, DC chapter of The National Society of Arts and Letters for their first annual vocal competition, "NextGen: Finding The Voices of Tomorrow."  The final round audition will take place on Friday, March 23 at 8:00 PM in Washington, DC at Arena Stage in The Kreeger Theater. Judges for competition will include Baayork Lee (Tony winning Broadway Legend), Jim Caruso (Birdland Jazz Club), Kelly d'Amboise (Signature Theater and APO Resident Director), and Robert Pullen (Emmy-nominated Producer and owner of Nouveau Productions). AMERICAN CRIME Actor Takes Stage for Adaptation of Junot Díaz Novel

Repertory Theatre is hosting Literature to Life/Young Audiences of New York to present a stage adaptation of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. This Pulitzer Prize-winning 2008 novel written by Junot D az was adapted and directed for the stage by Elise Thoron and will be performed by Elvis Nolasco from the Emmy-winning ABC show American Crime. This collaboration across the coasts is the first time Book-It has hosted another company in its 28-year history.

OPEN MIC NIGHTS With Ellen Hoffman Extends At Marsh Berkeley

Continuing its commitment to transformation, possibilities, and the community, The Marsh Berkeley announces monthly Open Mic Nights with Ellen Hoffman for 2018. Furthering The Marsh's mission of supporting new voices, Bay Area pianist, composer, and music arranger Ellen Hoffman will host a two-hour set offering five-minute slots to a variety of performers. Experienced singers, instrumentalists, poets, comics, actors, as well as novices will join Hoffman in an evening that presents eclectic entertainment for the adventurous. Those interested in performing will sign up at the door, and are welcome to provide sheet music or their own accompaniment for this celebration of the artistic community in the East Bay. Open Mic Nights with Ellen Hoffman will begin at 7:30pm on the third Tuesday of each month January 16-March 20 at The Marsh Berkeley, 2120 Allston Way, Berkeley.
