Elevator Repair Service (ERS) is hosting their spring benefit on Monday, May 3rd, 2010. The company is currently finishing the third play in a trilogy of critically acclaimed plays based on great American novels by William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Ernest Hemingway. This event will celebrate ERS's success with Frances McDormand (Burn after Reading, Fargo), Lili Taylor ('Six Feet Under'), Fred Armisen ('Saturday Night Live'), Frankie Faison ('The Wire'), and ERS company members in a one night only performance of loved, banned and mythologized American fiction. Authors include Edith Wharton, Willa Cather, and Edgar Allan Poe. Readings will be accompanied by ERS's unique signature sound design.
The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today that seven plays will be developed at the 2010 National Playwrights Conference under the leadership of artistic director Wendy C. Goldberg. The selected playwrights will spend the month of July at the O'Neill's Waterford, Connecticut campus developing and presenting staged readings of their work during the NPC's 46th season. Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis will direct THE HUMAN SCALE for four performances only at Joe's Pub beginning Wednesday, March 17 at 7 PM. Written and performed by Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright, THE HUMAN SCALE will also play Saturday, March 20 at 7 PM and Sunday, March 21 at 2 PM and 7 PM.
Casting has been completed for the upcoming performance of THE CHERRY SISTERS REVISITED, which will play as a part of the Humana Festival at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. The production will feature music by Michael Friedman, commissioned by the theatre.
