Photo Coverage: 'A Catered Affair' Opens- Curtain Call

Last night, April 17th 2008, A Catered Affair opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre. A Catered Affair has a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and direction by Tony Award-winner John Doyle. A Catered Affair marks Mr. Bucchino's Broadway debut.

Marissa Perry Takes Over For Durig As Tracy in 'Hairspray'

The producers of Hairspray, winner of eight 2003 Tony Awards® including Best Musical, have announced that Marissa Perry will take over the role of Tracy Turnblad on Tuesday, April 15, at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, 250 West 52 Street. (Shannon Durig plays Tracy through Sunday, April 13.)

PS Classics To Record 'Catered Affair' On 4/7

PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, will record the original Broadway cast recording of A Catered Affair next Monday (April 7), it was announced today by the show's producer, Jordan Roth and Tommy Krasker, co-founder of PS Classics.

The producers of Hairspray have announced that Karen Mason will join the Broadway company on Tuesday, April 8 in the role of Velma Von Tussle at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, 250 West 52 Street. (Mary Birdsong plays Velma through Sunday, April 6.)

'A Catered Affair' To Begin Preview Performances 3/25

A Catered Affair, Broadway's newest musical, will begin preview performances next Tuesday, March 25 at 8:00 p.m. With a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, score by John Bucchino and directed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle, A Catered Affair will play the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street). Opening night is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, according to producer Jordan Roth (Vice President, Jujamcyn Theaters).

The Chicago engagement of Jersey Boys broke the weekly gross house record at the LaSalle Bank Theatre for the second time. The box office took in a total of $1,143,780.04 for the 8-performance week ending November 18, 2007.

'August: Osage County' Extends 3 Weeks to Recoup Strike Loss

Steppenwolf Theatre Company today announced plans to extend its New York production of August: Osage County by three weeks to help recover lost dates from the strike by Local One stagehands. The ongoing strike has prompted August: Osage County to indefinitely postpone its November 20, 2007 opening at the Imperial Theatre. The added performances will extend August's Broadway run through March 9, 2008.

Photo Flash: 'Jersey Boys' Opens in West End March 18

Casting has been announced for the London production of Jersey Boys, the Tony Award award-winning Broadway musical. The show will open in London's West End at the Prince Edward Theatre on Tuesday March 18, 2008, following previews from February 28, 2008. The London cast will be headed by Ryan Molloy as Frankie Valli, Stephen Ashfield as Bob Gaudio, Glenn Carter as Tommy DeVito and Philip Bulcock as Nick Massi.

Chicago 'Jersey Boys' Offers $25 Day-of Rush Tickets

Beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of every performance of JERSEY BOYS, ten (10) front row seats and as many as forty (40) additional seats subject to availability at select performances will be available for just $25 each at the LaSalle Bank Theatre Box Office (18 W. 'Jersey Boys' Return to SF for Holiday Engagement
