Rick Crom (Urinetown, The Goodbye Girl), Marina Franklin ('Chappelle's Show') and Erica Watson (upcoming film Push) headline A Hip-Hop Def Comedy Jam at the Comedy Cellar (117 MacDougal Street) on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 4:00 pm until 6;30 pm. Presented by the production team behind the new play Twin Towers, the event benefits the New York-based non-profit ENACT, where actors use role-play and drama therapy techniques to help New York City students learn emotional and social skills.
On July 14, 2009, the soundtrack of the upcoming film, THE BIG GAY MUSICAL will be released. Presales for the CD & the new line of T-shirts (see below) will begin on May 18th on the BGM website. The film will be on the festival circuit this summer & will be in movie theatres in the fall The date of the CD release party will be announced shortly.

The New York Musical Theater Festival concluded its fifth season on October 5th having presented 241 performances over the course of 21 days. A record-breaking 25,000 people, selling the festival to 87.5% of capacity, attended the festival. Over 75% of productions had sold-out performances, and 11 productions extended their runs to accommodate demand.

Hunter Foster and I were actors in Broadway's Urinetown. He was a book writer (Summer of 42) and I was a songwriter (Newsical). So of course we decided to write a show together. Bonnie and Clyde was Hunter's idea. Why hadn't it been done before? Turns out that while the personalities of everyone involved with the real Bonnie and Clyde were fascinating, their story was gruesome. 'If only you could put these characters in a musical comedy…' we thought. Quickly answered with, 'Well why not?'
