Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents the American premiere of Othello: The Remix, created by the Q Brothers, tonight, March 12-April 28, 2013 in the theater Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare. Othello: The Remix, the CST-commissioned hip-hop adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy, spun out and lyrically rewritten over original beats, returns home for a limited engagement following an acclaimed world premiere in London at Shakespeare's Globe and a tour to Germany and Edinburgh.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today two upcoming productions: the American premiere of Othello: The Remix, created by the Q Brothers, March 12-April 28, 2013 in the theater Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare, and the upcoming CST Family production Shrek The Musical, staged by Jeff Award-winning director Rachel Rockwell, July 13-September 1, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater.

The Board of Directors of Chicago Muse, an organization dedicated to the development of new musical-theater projects, announced today it has ceased operations and will contribute the Corporation's assets to Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST). The contribution of more than $500,000 will establish a newly endowed fund at CST in support of the Theater's ongoing commitment to commission, develop and produce new musicals.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), concluded its 25th Anniversary celebration on June 11 with Gala 2012 at its home on Navy Pier. Three hundred and fifty of Chicago's civic and cultural leaders attended the event benefiting the Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient's far-reaching education and civic engagement programs. Through the leadership of Gala 2012 Lead Sponsors Northern Trust, Donna Van Eekeren Foundation and Food For Thought Catering, the support of the Gala 2012 Host Committee and the advocacy of CST's Board of Directors, the Theater raised nearly $1 million for its continuing work as a partner in literacy for Chicago Public Schools.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today that in addition to being among the 37 international companies who will come together for an unprecedented 37-play 'Globe to Globe' Festival for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad on May 5 and 6, CST's commission, The Q Brothers' Othello: The Remix, will be Chicago Shakespeare's premiere appearance in Germany's Shakespeare im Globe Neuss Festival July 6 and 7 and return engagement at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, August 1-27, 2012 where Funk It Up About Nothin' won critical acclaim in 2009.

In anticipation of Chicago Shakespeare Theater's (CST) world premiere production Othello: The Remix at this summer's Globe to Globe Festival for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, CST will host a delegation of leaders from Shakespeare festivals across Europe, February 21-25, 2012. Representatives from Spain, Germany, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and the United Kingdom will join CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and Executive Director Criss Henderson to discuss upcoming projects and the possibility for future cross-cultural collaborations.

Following a successful 23rd Annual Festival of New Musicals held in NYC Oct. 27-28. The National Alliance for Musical Theatre held a party at Southern Hospitality. This year's Festival attaracted over 650 people representing 300 organizations from around the country including Europe attending the eight new musicals that were presented. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today that its celebrated premiere comedy Murder for Two-A Killer Musical will be extended into its sixth month through November 27, 2011, Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare. Nominated for four Joseph Jefferson Awards, including Best New Work-Musical or Revue, this 90-minute Agatha Christie-like whodunit musical comes with a surprising twist: one actor plays the inspector, the other plays all 10 suspects, and both play the piano. Created by Joe Kinosian (music/book) and Kellen Blair (lyrics/book), Murder for Two-A Killer Musical currently features Kinosian as the slew of hilarious would-be criminals. Beginning on October 19, Adam Overett will take over for Alan Schmuckler in the role of Officer Marcus Moscowicz.

Based on Carlo Collodi's classic tale of a wooden puppet who yearns to be a real boy, this original CST Family commission will turn CST's Courtyard Theater stage into a larger-than-life, European-style marionette theater. Created by multiple Drama Desk Award-nominated team Neil Bartram (music/lyrics) and Brian Hill (book), The Adventures of Pinocchio is directed by Rachel Rockwell, who returns to CST after staging last summer's world premiere CST Family musical The Emperor's New Clothes.
