Carrie Furnace to Host Opera Theater Summerfest Eco-opera Workshop, 6/27

 Music and theater lovers can step out at the Carrie Furnace on Sat., June 27 and into the creative process during a festive evening centered around a free workshop of Opera Theater's commissioned Eco-Opera, A NEW KIND OF FALLOUT, with music by composer Gilda Lyons and libretto by Tammy Ryan. The free event begins at 6 pm when audience members can bring chairs and blankets--or reserve a chair at the site for $10.

After completing a 15th anniversary season which featured a critically heralded performance of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, David Bernard, Music Director of the award-winning Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, has announced the ensemble's 2015-16 season of concerts.  Highlights include a roster of superb soloists (pianist Jeffrey Biegel, jazz pianist  Ted Rosenthal, and cellist Inbal Segev,) insightful programs spanning music from Beethoven through Bartók, and a new concert format where the audience sits among the players of the orchestra for a performance of Beethoven's  Fifth Symphony.

The final recording features Nielsen's complete concertos: the Flute Concerto with Principal Flute Robert Langevin, Clarinet Concerto with Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill, and Violin Concerto with Danish violinist Nikolaj Znaider.
