Sarasota, FL – For the second year in a row, Sarasota Opera will offer its popular “Understanding Opera” seminar series open to anyone interested in learning more about this dynamic art form. Executive Director Richard Russell and Director of Artistic Administration Greg Trupiano, who have more than 60 years of collective experience in the opera industry, will team up to offer specially crafted discussions designed to delve into different areas of the world of opera. These enjoyable morning talks will take place at the Jonas Kamlet Library in the Deane Carroll Allyn Pavilion Building next door to the Opera House.

The critically acclaimed American Spiritual Ensemble will return to the William E. Schmidt Opera Theatre at the Sarasota Opera House on Saturday, September 6th at 7pm for a one night only performance celebrating the life of William E. Schmidt. The concert will be free and open to the public.

Bryan Cranston won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for ALL THE WAY. This is Bryan Cranston's first Tony nomination. Cranston began his acting career in local and regional theatres, getting his start at the Granada Theater in the San Fernando Valley. He is best known for portraying Walter White in Breaking Bad from 2008 to 2013, and Hal in Malcolm in the Middle from 2000 to 2006. He won four Emmy Awards and was nominated for five more.

Producers of All the Way are thrilled to announce that thanks to generous donations from a number of individuals, the show will be offering free and highly subsidized tickets to students from New York City public high schools for selected performances in May and June. The show is working directly with the New York City Department of Education (DOE) and the NYCDOE Office of Arts and Special Projects to facilitate the program.
The hit Broadway play ALL THE WAY welcomed class presidents from public high school across New York City. Following the performance, the students stayed after for a talkback with the cast, including Tony nominee Bryan Cranston.
Sarasota Opera is pleased to announce the expansion of its new broadcast and film series called 'HD at the Opera House'. This new series is allowing Sarasota Opera to expand its programming from the fall and winter season to year-around. In addition to opera, the series will include ballet and theater from some of the world's most famous venues. All showings will occur in the William E. Schmidt Opera Theatre at the Sarasota Opera House.
