Jeffrey Bean, Sharon Lockwood and More to Star in Alley Theatre's 'VANYA AND SONIA'; Cast and Creatives Set!

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for recent Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Appearing in titles roles are Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.

John Rubinstein Joins LA Chamber Orchestra for Westside Connections,

Prolific film, stage and television actor, director and composer John Rubinstein, a native Angeleno and son of legendary pianist Arthur Rubinstein, appears with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) Music Director and pianist Jeffrey Kahane, LACO principals and special guest pianist Christopher O'Riley to explore personal and musical legacies at Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's (LACO) WESTSIDE CONNECTIONS chamber music series on Thursday, May 15, 2014, 7:30 pm, at the Moss Theater in Santa Monica. Rubinstein created the role of Bob Fosse's Pippin on Broadway and received a Tony Award for Children of a Lesser God, and O'Riley is a versatile pianist as well as host of the popular NPR radio program "From the Top.' They join LACO Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, Concertmaster Margaret Batjer and Principal Cello Andrew Shulman in a performance that pays homage to the remarkable legacy of both Rubinsteins and features Rachmaninoff's Sonata in G minor (Shulman and Kahane), Chopin's Nocturne in D-flat major Op. 27, No. 2 (Kahane), and Brahms' Piano Trio No. 2 in C major, Op. 87 (Batjer, Shulman and O'Riley).

La Jolla Playhouse's Next 'Without Walls' Production Is EL HENRY, Running 6/14-29

Following its hugely successful Without Walls (WoW) Festival last October, La Jolla Playhouse announces the latest production in its acclaimed site-based theatre series: El Henry, written by and starring Culture Clash's Herbert Siguenza, directed by San Diego REPertory Theatre Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse. Presented in association with San Diego REP, the show will run June 14 - 29 at SILO in downtown San Diego's Makers Quarter. Performances run Tuesday through Sunday at 7:30pm.

OSF Wraps 2013 Season

Intersection for the Arts and California Shakespeare Present CALIFAS FESTIVAL thru 11/17

Intersection for the Arts and the California Shakespeare Theater come together this fall to co-produce the Califas Festival, a six week-long immersive, story-filled play yard of music, visual art, performance, and more in the area in and around Intersection's headquarters. California Shakespeare Theater Receives State-of-the-Art Sound System

California Shakespeare Theater today announced it has received a world-class sound system courtesy of Meyer Sound of Berkeley and Sound Associates of New York. The new audio upgrade includes loudspeakers, digital audio distribution, and control interface manufactured by Meyer Sound at its Berkeley headquarters. In addition, Sound Associates is providing a Shure digital wireless system with the goal to enhance the voices of the artists and to make the productions easier to hear in the intimate Bruns Amphitheater setting. The state-of-the-art system will debut with Cal Shakes' opening production of the 2013 season, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose.

California Shakespeare Theater to Offer Open-Captioned Performances

California Shakespeare Theater today announced that it is has been selected to participate in the first year of a two-year regional theater partnership to provide open captioning for the deaf and hard-of-hearing at select Main Stage performances during the 2013 season.

Cal Shakes Announces AMERICAN NIGHT: THE BALLAD OF JUAN JOSE Cast

California Shakespeare Theater today announced the cast of its season-opening production, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose, by Richard Montoya and developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney. Helmed by Cal Shakes Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone, the production will run at the Bruns Amphitheater from May 29 through June 23. The 2010 world premiere of American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose at Oregon Shakespeare Festival was the first show in the company's history to be extended due to popular demand; the New York Times deemed the play (In its recent Yale Rep production), "a lovable hodgepodge of references, historical and pop-cultural, with a deadly serious message at its heart."
