Cast members from Disney's THE LION KING (at Mandalay Bay) will be performing in Los Angeles at The Grove outdoor shopping and entertainment district during a free event on Friday, July 9 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Disney Theatrical Productions and DPAC announced today that tickets for the long-awaited production of Disney's THE LION KING will go on sale to the public at the DPAC Ticket Center on Saturday, October 2nd at 8am. The Triangle's most eagerly awaited stage production will begin performances at DPAC on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 for a limited engagement of 4 weeks through Sunday, January 30, 2011. The opening night is Thursday, January 6 at 7:30pm.

The Portland return of Disney's THE LION KING opens tonight, Friday, June 18 at 7:30pm at Keller Auditorium for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, July 11.

Broadway's landmark musical event THE LION KING recently welcomed to the company: GARETH SAXE as the evil and power-hungry lion Scar; ALTON FITZGERALD WHITE as Mufasa, the great lion warrior and ruler of the Pridelands; CAMERON POW as the prim and proper hornbilled bird Zazu; BEN JEFFREY as the carefree warthog Pumbaa; FRED BERMAN as the wisecracking meerkat Timon; and CHAUNTEÉ SCHULER as the loyal lioness Nala. Jeffrey, Berman and Schuler will mark their Broadway debut with The Lion King. Rossini's rarely performed Armida has its Met premiere on April 12 with a gala performance of Mary Zimmerman's new production. Renowned soprano Renée Fleming stars as the mythological sorceress, Armida, one of the greatest virtuoso roles from the bel canto repertory. Fleming is joined by Lawrence Brownlee, who sings Armida's chief love interest, Rinaldo, and five more tenors in the roles of the crusader knights. José Manuel Zapata portrays Rinaldo's deadly rival Gernando.

The full cast and creative team has been announced for Mary Zimmerman's production of Armida at the Metropolitan Opera. The Rossini opera will be presented April 12 through May 12 and will star Renée Fleming as the title sorceress. The performance will be sung in Italian with titles in English, Spanish, and German.
