New York City Players to Present Richard Maxwell's ISOLDE, 4/10-26

Following a 2013 world premiere at Theater Basel in Switzerland, New York City Players presents the U.S. premiere of Isolde. Returning to a core group of collaborators, Isolde, written and directed by Maxwell, features an ensemble of New York City Players veterans including Jim Fletcher, Brian Mendes, Tory Vazquez and Gary Wilmes. Maxwell's choice to not use any music in Isolde further supports a desire to excavate his own characteristically distilled approach to story telling. Isolde was inspired by the legend of Tristan and Isolde.

Rachel Dickstein, Jeremy Bloom & More Chosen for Drama League's 2014 Artist Residency Program

The Drama League (Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director; Roger T. Danforth, Artistic Director) has announced the ten artists and theater ensembles chosen to develop new plays and musicals as part of the 2014 Artist Residency Program. The development of these works, which include two 2014 Artists In Residence, Rachel Dickstein/Ripe Time and Jeremy Bloom/Rady&Bloom, will be held at The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas) in Tribeca from March-July 2014.

IF YOU CAN GET TO BUFFALO Begins Off-Broadway Tonight

A new play about one of the first and most notorious cases of invasion of privacy on the Internet - 'IF YOU CAN GET TO BUFFALO: An Exploration of 'A Rape in Cyberspace' by Julian Dibbell,' written by Trish Harnetiaux and directed by Eric Nightengale - will be given its world premiere this winter by Incubator Arts Project (inside St. Mark's Church, 131 E. 10 St. in Manhattan), with preview performances tonight, February 13th prior to an official press opening on Tuesday, February 18th, 2014.

Liliane Montevecchi to Headline LOVE 'N COURAGE Honoring Mario Fratti, 2/24

Liliane Montevecchi - the celebrated actress best-known for her Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning performance in the musical NINE - will lead the line-up for theatre artists paying tribute to the playwright and theater critic Mario Fratti (whose adaptation of the Federico Fellini film 8 ½ became the Broadway musical NINE), when Theater for the New City presents its 11th annual LOVE 'N COURAGE benefit on Monday, February 24 at 6 pm at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South) in New York City.

Anonymous Ensemble Presents I LAND, Now thru 2/9

Anonymous Ensemble's I Land is a live film drawn from the lives and imagination of the audience. The Ensemble guides the audience through an exploration of the terrains of their individual memories that unfolds into an impressionistic film of the audience's collective narrative, using Anonymous Ensemble's signature real-time video wizardry. Each performance is a unique event.

Rachel Rosenthal Company's INSTANT FAIR TALES Adds 2/8-9 Shows

The Rachel Rosenthal Company (RRC) presents Instant Fairy Tales, a brand new series of original fairy tales for the 21st century at Espace DbD in Los Angeles. Instant Fairy Tales: The Longest Winter, the series' inaugural offering, which features an allegorical tale about learning to care for the environment, will be held on Saturdays, January 25 and February 8, as well as Sundays, January 26 and February 9, 2014. The performances, by Rachel Rosenthal Company's TOHUBOHU! Extreme Theatre Ensemble, begin at 4:00pm and 7:00pm on Saturdays, as well as at 2:00pm and 5:00pm on Sundays. Instant Fairy Tales are particularly well suited for children and families. Seating in the intimate performance space is limited to 35 patrons per show. Tickets cost $5. Okwui Okpokwasili's BRONX GOTHIC Plays 2nd Week of Shows at Danspace Project, Now thru 2/1

As part of the ninth edition of the COIL festival, Performance Space 122 and Danspace Project present the world premiere of Okwui Okpokwasili's Bronx Gothic. Using song, stories and movement, Okpokwasili chronicles the sexual awakening and exploits of two 11-year-old girls living in the Bronx. This solo performance features direction and visual design by Bessie award-winner Peter Born. Due to popular demand, a second week of performances has been added, today, January 28, 30-February 1.
