The Theatre Group at SBCC Announces 2017-18 Season

The Theatre Group at SBCC is excited to announce the 2017-2018 season of plays.  We open the season July 14-29, 2017 in the Garvin Theatre with the sparkling musical, HIGH SOCIETY , music and lyrics by Cole Porter, book by Arthur Kopit, based on the play The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry.

We're following the roguish Sir John Hotham, Governor of Hull and MP for Beverley as he tries to sense which way the wind is blowing on the eve of the English Civil War.

Hampstead Downstairs Original KISS ME Transfers to Trafalgar Studios

Multi-award winning writer Richard Bean's Kiss Me transfers to Trafalgar Studios after a sold out run at Hampstead Theatre Downstairs in 2016. Claire Lams (The King's Speech, Chichester Festival Theatre; The Little Mermaid, Bristol Old Vic; Routes, The Royal Court) and Ben Lloyd-Hughes (Future Conditional, Old Vic; Henry V, Michael Grandage Company; Jumpy, Duke of York's Theatre) reprise their roles.

At the start of her journey, Lenka is confronted by an Old Woman from an extinct Slavic tribe who guides her through a dream-like world where the past and future meet and multiple realities collide.

Raleigh Little Theatre Presents ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS

???????Raleigh Little Theatre presents One Man, Two Guvnors, the area premiere of a comedy that ran successfully in New York and London and helped to launch James Corden's career. The play is written by Richard Bean, with songs by Grant Olding, and is based on Carlo Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the recipients of the third round of the 2016 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $669,000, allow 16 productions extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.

Lakewood Theatre Company to Present Comedy ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS

Richard Bean's internationally acclaimed One Man, Two Guvnors opens at Lakewood Theatre Company on November 4, 2016, with songs by Grant Olding. The British comedy is based on an Italian play, The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldini, and transports the classic conundrums of a harlequin hero from 1740s Florence to 1960s Brighton, keeping the age-old traditions of one of the most revered theatre forms-commedia dell'arte.

NELL GWYNN Returns to Shakespeare's Globe Following UK Tour

English Touring Theatre today announces that following its UK tour, Jessica Swale's Olivier Award-winning Nell Gwynn, starring Laura Pitt-Pulford in the title role, returns to Shakespeare's Globe for a two week run from 2 - 13 May 2017.
