SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman, is set to open this week in LA at Sundance Sunset Cinema, Laemmle Town Center 5, and Edwards Westpark 8 and in New York at AMC Empire 25 on Friday, December 12, 2014.

Award-winning actress Gena Rowlands is to be honored at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX with the handprint-footprint ceremony on December 5 in celebration of Ms. Rowlands incredible contribution to cinema. Rowlands starred in many productions, including Staccato, A Child Is Waiting, Faces, Gloria (nomination for Academy Award® for Best Actress), Love Streams, Minnie and Moskowitz, She's So Lovely, A Woman Under the Influence (Academy Award® nomination), and The Neon Bible. All of these films were teamed with her iconic husband, writer and director John Cassavetes.

Human existence can be a pretty lonely, tenuous thing. When push comes to shove, our dependence on our friends (or even strangers for that matter) is something you should never take for granted. This is just one of the lessons you will take away from your visit to the Agape Actors Co-op production of 'Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks' currently playing in Georgetown in the East View High School's black box theater.

Two character plays about love and friendship over time like Same Time, Next Year by Bernard Slade and Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry are A-list treasures. Their lack of pretension and real humanity make them linger quite joyously in the mind. In spite of some wonderful moments, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks by Richard Alfieri is not quite at that level. As in a sitcom, many of the reactions are too quick and ready-made...and the outcome relies heavily on illness and sympathy to keep the two characters connected; but despite its flaws, the play is enormously entertaining and appealing in the right hands. What makes the current Laguna Playhouse production so memorable is the pairing of film legend Leslie Caron with 6-time Ovation Award winner David Engel, both known for their superior reliability with a dance step or two.

There's a rather funny thing about relationships, whether they be friendships or romantic. We all know that they take hard work to maintain, but the best ones appear to require no work at all.
