Kansas City Repertory Theatre elevates its profile in the national theatre community with the second annual OriginKC: NEW WORKS FESTIVAL. In addition to a striking lineup of playwrights and directors for this year's festival, an impressive list of arts leaders from preeminent regional theaters across the country will be attending the Festival Weekend, May 12-13. 

Mixed Magic Theatre presents a stage adaptation of Anita Diamant's bestselling novel THE RED TENT, adapted & directed by Ricardo Pitts-Wiley, continuing through May 14th, 2017 at Mixed Magic Theatre (560 Mineral Spring Ave., Pawtucket, RI).

Tickets are now on sale for the 8th Annual Hollywood Fringe Festival, taking place June 8th - 25th, with previews June 1st - 6th. L.A.'s largest celebration of the performing arts continues to grow and currently has 375 shows registered to perform over 2,000 performances throughout the festival. This is already a 25% growth over the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival and more productions are expected to register.

Following the success of season one, which ranked as the #1 primetime series on Spanish-language television in its time slot, Telemundo announced the premiere of LA QUERIDA DEL CENTAURO, starring Humberto Zurita, Ludwika Paleta, Michel Brown and Sandra Echeverría, today, May 2 at 10pm/9c.

Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book has seen no shortage of adaptations. In addition to its original print form, it's the source for two Disney movies, and a stage adaptation at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago a few years back. Would-be adaptors face as slight problem in that while there is lots of fun within Kipling's stories about a human child named Mowgli being raised by wolves, the story also has a dark side to it that might not work well for the youngest of theatregoers. Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Maryland is currently presenting a new adaptation by Greg Banks of Kipling's work, which will leave your little ones engaged from beginning to end without clawing you to go into the lobby. Older kids and adults are also likely to enjoy themselves, making it a theatergoing experience for the whole family.

The Public Theater has announced the line-up for the popular Spotlight Series of free staged readings of new plays by The Public's Emerging Writers Group, beginning on Wednesday, May 31 and running through Monday, June 26.

Last year's premiere of JFK by David T. Little and Royce Vavrek at the Fort Worth Opera caused some big-time foot-stomping in the Lone Star State. New Yorkers will have a taste of the work--which will have its next full-scale production at the Opera de Montreal next January--on April 23 at the Morgan Library & Museum in Manhattan.
