Valley Of The Moon Music Festival Announces Full Summer Program

Valley of the Moon Music Festival, the nation's first and only organization devoted to presenting chamber music from the Classical era to the early 20th-century performed on instruments built when the music was written, has announced its full summer program including five new apprentices and three guest lecturers. Returning to the Hanna Center Auditorium in Sonoma July 14 - 28, the Festival will make a musical tour of several influential European salons including those of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel in Leipzig, Sara Levy in Berlin and Winnaretta Singer, "Princesse de Polignac," in Paris.

Celebrated Mezzo-Soprano Frederica Von Stade Gives Master Class To Six OCSA Students

Frederica von Stade has been described by The New York Times as one of America's finest artists and singers and is known around the world through television appearances on PBS specials and Live from Lincoln Center. As a mezzo-soprano, she performed many of her great roles at the Metropolitan Opera, and has also sung with many leading American opera companies. Additionally, she is well known in Europe for productions at Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera Covent Garden, the Paris Opera and the Vienna State Opera. She has made more than 60 recordings and has received six Grammy nominations, the Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, Italy's Premio della Critica Discografica and many other accolades. In 1983 she was honored with an award at The White House by former President Ronald Reagan for her contribution to the arts. In 1998, she was appointed as an officer of L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, which is France's highest honor in the arts.

Chicago Folks Operetta Announces 'War and remembrance' Season

Chicago Folks Operetta (CFO) is proud to announce its 2017 season titled “War and Remembrance.” Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the United States' entry into World War I, the season includes the fully staged Chicago premiere of Kurt Weill's anti-war operetta Johnny Johnson, June 24 – July 9, “Kurt Weill and Paul Green: The Story Behind Johnny Johnson,” a lecture with performances featuring Weill Scholar Tim Carter, May 24 and the CFO premiere of a concert  called Operetta and The Great War, June 28 and 29. 2017 Schwabacher Debut Recital Series Concludes, 5/30

The 2017 Schwabacher Debut Recitals series concludes on Sunday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m., with a recital by a trio of San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows featured with collaborative pianist Warren Jones in a program of Italian and French repertoire.

The Josephine S. Leiser Opera Center and Steinway Piano Gallery Miami present the season's third pair of performances in the free concert series, 'SongFest Recital Series.' The program will be heard at Steinway Piano Gallery Miami in Coral Gables on Saturday, March 4, at 7:30 pm and at the Leiser Center in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, March 5 at 6:00 pm.

The Dessoff Choirs Performs All-French Program 2/26

Hailed as "one of the great amateur choruses of our time (New York Today) for its "full-bodied sound and suppleness (The New York Times)," The Dessoff Choirs turns the church into a petit Paris with an all-French program that puts the spotlight on the brilliant French Impressionists of music: Marcel Dupre, Claude Debussy, Lili Boulanger, Reynaldo Hahn, Jean Langlais, and Francis Poulenc. Joined by accompanist Steven Ryan (celebrating his 20th anniversary season with Dessoff) and Dr. Raymond Nagem, Associate Organist at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, Dessoff presents a magnifique tribute to French composers and to the majeste of the organ.
