Playwrights Michael Lew (MICROCRISIS, STOCKTON) and Rehana Mirza (BARRIERS, THE GOOD MUSLIM) take the helm as co-directors of Ma-Yi Theater Company's Writers Lab succeeding co-director Lloyd Suh and co-director Qui Nguyen, it has been announced by Ma-Yi Artistic Director Ralph Pena.

The National New Play Network (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will produce six new plays in staged reading format at its National Showcase of New Plays, hosted December 3-5 in Denver by Curious Theatre Company. A committee of artistic, managing and literary leaders from across the country selected plays by Megan Breen, Jack Canfora, Dan Dietz, Meridith Friedman, A. Rey Pamatmat, and Stephen Sachs for the eighth annual showcase.

Director Anna D. Shapiro of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company has been awarded the 2010 Princess Grace Statue Award, The Princess Grace Foundation has announced. Shapiro previously received a Princess Grace Theater Apprenticeship in 1996.

The Awards ceremony will include the presentation of 21 awards to emerging artists in theater, dance and film as well as the Prince Rainier III Award to be presented to Denzel and Pauletta Washington and the Princess Grace Statue Award to be presented to Anna D. Shapiro. The Award recipients hail from cities and states across America and will travel to New York City to receive their honor at the glamorous black tie ceremony. The 28th Annual Princess Grace Awards Gala will take place in the presence of Her Royal Highness Caroline Princess of Hanover. The evening will be co-chaired by Bonnie Pfeifer Evans. Alan Turing, the queer, British mathematician whose ideas would usher in the digital age, works obsessively to complete his great work: a machine capable of thinking, learning, and - one day - living. But when his life and work are put on trial, Alan must confront the painful connection between his pursuit of artificial life and his first love's death.
