Obie Winner Renata Hinrichs Premieres RANDOM ACTS

Magic Window Productions will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of RANDOM ACTS, a drama written and performed by Obie Award winner Renata Hinrichs (A Simple Heart, Debbie Does Dallas, Einstein's Dreams). Directed by Jessi D. Hill, previews begin February 14 at TBG Mainstage Theatre. Opening is set for Wednesday, February 20.

Keen Company Announces Cast for NY Premiere of SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY

Today Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein announced the cast for the New York premiere of  Surely Goodness and Mercy, a truly Keen story about an exceptional boy living a troubled life in Newark, NJ who does a good deed for an often unnoticed person.   Sarita Covington, Jay Mazyck, Brenda Pressley, Courtney Thomas, and Cezar Williams will star under Jessi D. Hill's direction. The design team includes Lee Savage (scenic), Nicole Wee (costumes), Devorah Kengmana (lighting), and Sadah Espii Proctor (sound).

NY City Opera To Present Soprano Aprile Millo In Concert

New York City Opera (under the direction of Michael Capasso, General Director) will present, in a rare New York appearance, beloved soprano Aprile Millo in concert Today, January 30 at 7:30pm at Zankel Hall (881 Seventh Avenue, at 56th Street). 

BWW Review: Adaptation to stage of Movie By Danish Filmmaker Lars Von Trier, DOGVILLE Premieres at Teatro Porto Seguro

The first Brazilian theatrical adaptation for Dogville - masterpiece of the Danish filmmaker Lars Von Trier -, opens at Teatro Porto Seguro for the season from January 25 to March 31. Directed by Ze Henrique de Paula, the play brings in the cast Mel Lisboa, Eric Lenate, Fabio Assuncao, Bianca Byington, Marcelo Villas Boas, Anna Toledo, Rodrigo Caetano, Gustavo Trestini, Fernanda Thurann, Thalles Cabral, Chris Couto, Blota Filho, Munir Pedrosa, Selma Egrei, Dudu Ejchel and Fernanda Couto.

Houston Grand Opera's 2019-20 Season Features A Lineup Of Seven Productions Never Before Seen By Houston Audiences

Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will present its 2019-20 season with a broad repertoire of operas in productions that have never been seen by Houston audiences. The 65th season will open October 18, 2019, with Verdi's classic Rigoletto. Tomer Zvulun returns to direct the season opener after successfully opening the 2018-19 season with his production of The Flying Dutchman. American baritone Brian Mulligan sings his first Rigoletto leading an outstanding cast filled with renowned HGO Studio alumni, including Mexican tenor Arturo Chacon-Cruz as the Duke of Mantua and Armenian soprano Mane Galoyan as Gilda. Paired with Rigoletto is the North American  premiere of the dramatic oratorio Saul in a much-lauded and imaginative production by Barrie Kosky. Christopher Purves returns to the title role after his celebrated performance at the Glyndebourne Festival and is joined by countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen and Korean soprano Pureum Jo, both HGO Studio alumni.

The soprano is joined by tenor Piotr Becza?a as Adriana's lover, Maurizio. The principal cast also features mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili and baritone Ambrogio Maestri. Gianandrea Noseda conducts. Sir David McVicar's staging, which sets the action in a working replica of a Baroque theater, premiered at the Royal Opera House in London, where the Guardian praised the 'elegant production, sumptuously designed ... The spectacle guarantees a good night out.'

Following the success of The New York Times critic's pick The Tricky Part by Martin Moran, The Barrow Group, under the leadership of Co-Artistic Directors Seth Barrish and Lee Brock and Executive Director Robert Serrell, continues its 2018-2019 season with the world premiere of AWAKE, written and directed by K. Lorrel Manning.

The Metropolitan Opera's Production of ADRIANA LECOUVREUR Comes to the Big Screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse

The Metropolitan Opera's performance of Adriana Lecouvreur comes to the big screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, January 13 at 1pm. This encore screening is part of Atria Senior Living Classical Series with support from The Ridgefield Press and Whistle Stop Bakery.
