The San Diego International Film Festival (SDiFF), produced by the San Diego Film Foundation, announced today that they have honored Alex Wolff, from the Spotlight presentation "Stella's Last Weekend," with the Auteur Award and Dominique Fishback, from the Gala Presentation "The Hate U Give," with the Rising Star Award. The awards will be presented October 11th at The Night of the Stars Tribute at the Pendry San Diego in Downtown San Diego, CA.
Barry Jenkins' feature film adaptation of James Baldwin's 1974 novel 'If Beale Street Could Talk' will have its US premiere at Harlem's Apollo Theater as part of the 56th New York Film Festival, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. This marks the first time that the festival will present a screening at the historic theater.
Acclaimed director Ava DuVernay's short-form film entitled “August 28: A Day in the Life of a People” will make its national television debut on Tuesday, August 28 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on OWN. Moonlight director Barry Jenkins has adapted that's adapted If Beale Street Could Talk from James Baldwin's 1974 novel, according to Entertainment Weekly. It's the story of Tish, a Harlem-born woman who's newly engaged, newly pregnant, and trying to prove the innocence of her imprisoned lover, Fonny.

Bobby Krlic, who records under the name The Haxan Cloak, has composed the full score for the new Netflix show Seven Seconds. Seven Seconds is a crime drama series from the creator of The Killing and features Emmy award winning actress Regina King.
